December 6, 200322 yr I may be wrong, but I seriously think that Scott Dumbass has a lot to do with what is happening. Look at Lowell and Castillo. Then look at their agents. Then consider that their agents did what they are supposed to do - get the best deal they can for their clients WHILE following their wishes. If Fudge wanted to be here, he could sign the contract already. He wants to test the market - screw Fudge, we dont need him. And I am not saying that out of anger - I would rather us use his money elsewhere - like keep Urbina and get another strong arm in the back end of the pen to go with him, Fox, and whoever else we got. Mmmmm......Fudge.....*drools*
December 6, 200322 yr Anyone else find it funny that Pudge played below his ability until the playoffs came with each game being nationally broadcasted with every GM paying extra attention?

December 6, 200322 yr Well, folks, this isn't that surprising. All that's happening is the confirmation of what Pudge was this year: A hired gun. He can leave now, I honestly couldn't care less. I didn't like him before he came here, I tolerated while he was here (and getting too much credit) and now that he's gone (or as good as gone) I don't like him again. I honestly don't want him back anymore, I don't care. I'm not heartbroken, I'm not in pain, I'm not surprised. Pudge is a money ballplayer, always has been, always will be. He was here for one season, it's not like we're losing a Marlin lifer.
December 6, 200322 yr This reminds me of when Cliff Floyd left. Remember when Floyd left because the Marlins wouldn't give him his $10 million per year contract? What happened when he went looking in free agency? He wound up signing with the Mets for basically the same amount Florida was offering. The "hired gun" analogy was true for both parties. The Marlins got his services for one year, & Pudge used the year as an audition to get a big multiyear deal somewhere else. Maybe it worked out for both parties.
