December 6, 200322 yr LATEST NEWS - December 5 - Previous News Agent Scott Boras countered Florida's two-year, $14 million offer to Ivan Rodriguez with a four-year, $40 million proposal. Yeah, that'll happen. "They brought him to Florida at a wage of $10 million," Boras said, "and following a season of world championship play and leadership, he made the decision today to let the Marlins know that despite the fact that his teammates got increases, he was willing to accept a contract where his salary remained the same and he would take the same term of years Mike Lowell received. He was willing to be flexible about how the money was to be paid out during the contract." The Marlins appear set to part ways with Pudge and go with Ramon Castro and Mike Redmond behind the plate.
December 6, 200322 yr Stay tuned. I know everyone is riled up after the initial report. But this is all a negotiating ploy. I'm not saying they will come together, but this latest report shows movement, and we still have 2 days to go.
December 6, 200322 yr I agree PBMarlin, Boras is not stupid. Remember this is the guy that got A-Rod a quarter of Billion dollars, when NOBODY was willing to go that high, expect for the Rangers. Who bit!

December 6, 200322 yr Pudge should stay. He is doing well, He is hitting very good, he likes it here, he lives here. What else does he want. We need him to be behind the play, pitchers feel very Comfortable with him there and i dont think we should put in-experienced bench players

Does Ivan actually think he's gonna get $8 Million more than Mike Lowell? :lol

Let's see.....Boras thinks Pudge is worth 25% more than Mikey Did Pudge have 25% more HRs than Mike? Not, Pudge 16, Mike 32 Did Pudge have 25% more RBIs than Mike? Not, Pudge 85, Mike 105 Did Pudge have a 25% greater OBP? Not, Pudge .369. Mike .350 Did Pudge have a 25% greater SLG? Not, Pudge .474, Mike .530 So just how does Boras think Pudge is being generous by not demanding a raise? Based on this comparison, Pudge should should get 81% of Mike's salary, or 6.5M. Seems like $7-8M is more than fair.
December 6, 200322 yr I guarantee that even if Pudge doesn't stay, no team in their right mind will agree to Boras' demands. Pudge needs to wake up and realize that the best offer will come from the Marlins. The market for him is just as bad, maybe worse, than it was last year. Stupid Boras...he needs to die.
December 6, 200322 yr Stupid Boras...he needs to die. He needs to be fired as an agent. :whistle :shifty
December 6, 200322 yr Kudos to Loria, Samson and Beinfest for sticking to their guns. They are the ones with the fan base behind them, not Pudge in this situation.
December 6, 200322 yr Kudos to Loria, Samson and Beinfest for sticking to their guns. They are the ones with the fan base behind them, not Pudge in this situation. i am PRAYING that the media goes off on pudge after we fail to come to an agreement by sunday we need another villain here besides the team...

December 6, 200322 yr He needs to be fired as an agent. :whistle :shifty :lol Wow... But on a serious note, the media, as far as I have seen, is giving the villan role to both Pudge and Boras.
December 6, 200322 yr Money saved with Pudge + Money saved with 432JUAN = Vlad Money As if it was that easy. Hmm Lowell did get an increase in salary of 4 million so if anything thats from Juan. Castillo also got a slight increase. Also you have to factor in increases in Gonzo, the whole starting pitching staff and sign some arms for the bullpen. Not that easy Juanky, you better think it over.
