Defensive Stat

I think you are patting them on the back too much. They did make some good decisions, but there are some really dumb ones that most other teams probably wouldn't make.

The way that they handled the Ryan Webb arbitration is downright infuriating. He would be a great asset for the pen right now and they basically spent half of his would-be salary on Marmol "because they thought they could fix him." They tried to do things on the cheap and it was predictably a bad decision.

The $3.5 million they are spending on Furcal shouldn't be downplayed, either. That was a waste of money even if he wasn't having injury problems. It just shows how dumb they are for not wanting to spend a little bit of money on a solid reliever but have no problem wasting it on Furcal and Marmol.

Not every decision will work but the team looks like a .500 team with the lowest payroll in MLB so they must be doing something right.

Opinion: a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge

Whether you guys agree with the methods around determining WAR and other statistics similar to it, the bottom line is that it IS based on facts and knowledge.

My opinion is that Dodger Stadium is a great place to watch a baseball game.

A fact is that Dodger Stadium is in the Elysian Park area of Los Angeles.

My opinion is that the orange Marlins jerseys are horrible.

A fact is that Adeiny Hechavarria is horrible.

See what I did there, guys? See how I brought Adeiny into it?

It's NOT a fact that WAR measures "wins above replacement" accurately.

It shouldn't be that hard to field a .500 team with a low payroll after you recently just sold off half of the players for young talent.

I know it's popular to dislike Wild Card's posts, and it's often for good reason, but I do agree with him here.

The front office did a pretty good job this past offseason all things considered. Also, Saltalamacchia might be frustrating at times, but he's a huge upgrade over the turd we had last year. Saltalamacchia wasn't overpaid.

There's a misconception among marlins fans of what overpaid means.

Team value vs. market value. Often times it's hard to know what the latter even means.

They also signed Salty, swapped LoMo for Jones and added Capps, signed McGehee, kept Ozuna in the majors after a terrible spring, put Koehler in the rotation over Hand, etc. Those MANY good decisions outweigh the two bad decisions you suggested (Dobbs wasn't their idea).

The front office did an unbelievable job this past winter and they deserve credit.

Also moved a 2nd pick in favor of signing Kevin Gregg.

So that pretty much shits on anything good you can say about them.

Nice read on how well our OF has performed defensively. Basically second only to the Royals, which is big praise IMO.

I know the Royals have been very successful, but I don't like saying "Marlijns second only to the Royals."

Historically, 99% of the time that is bad news brewing :p

Wildcard likes that trade.

Also I'm just gonna keep posting and posting.

Hoorah! For the second time in MB.com history, Dr Beinfest has passed the 10,000 post mark! Don't ask questions.

It's Kevin f***ing Gregg. How can anyone be happy about that?

It brought us Bryan Morris! He's cooler than Zach Morris.
