December 6, 200322 yr The Marlins hope to have Chad Fox signed today after improving their offer to the reliever from $750,000 to $1 million over one season. The Cardinals, Astros and Rangers reportedly are offering similar amounts, and the Orioles have a two-year deal on the table. If Fox stays with Florida, there's some chance he could take over as the team's closer. /Rotoworld
December 6, 200322 yr What I like is that Chad Fox wants to stay with the Marlins. Like Mordecai, and yes, like Lowell. They are not prostitutes.
December 6, 200322 yr Why not stay? Best rehab in the majors and 2 time world champion. money isn't everything.
December 6, 200322 yr When the Red Sox gave up on him, what playoff-bound team took a risk and gave him a shot? The Florida Marlins. He will be loyal and sign.
December 6, 200322 yr I'm surprised the Marlins are talking about the closer job for him. Not sure he can handle it, but I'd love to see it work out. They'll need to sign some more help for the pen though. Fox is a great guy.

December 6, 200322 yr What I like is that Chad Fox wants to stay with the Marlins. Like Mordecai, and yes, like Lowell. They are not prostitutes. He did have a good season and turned it totally around for the Marlins, a good pick up. But you guys cannot blame pudge. He wants to get a good deal, he has to looka fter number one. He has to act like he deserves more, that's how the market works. I don't hate Andy Pettitte for doing what he's doing. However, I do hope I Rod returns. If not, the fish will have to reinvest elsewhere and bring up Castro.

December 6, 200322 yr I loved Fox the second i heard him talk the first day he played for us. he's not greedy and a good pitcher. I say we give him a shot at closer and if it doesn't work out whatever, but if it does kick a$$. he deserves a chance at least.

He wants to get a good deal If not, the fish will have to reinvest elsewhere and bring up Castro. He HELPED turn it around for the bullpen. The team was well off when we got him. What the Marlins offered Pudge was a good deal. He's just too blinded by his shiny statue to see that. And Castro has been in the majors for 2-3 years.
December 6, 200322 yr Here are two low-cost thought for the bullpen: Tim Worrell, and Armando Benitez. I know neither of them are considered "top-flight" closers, but working on a budget, I can think of bigger wastes of money than having one of those two guys, and I'm not sold on Chad Fox as a closer, didn't work in Boston...

I have a feeling Worrell will not come very cheap. Armando may come cheap ENOUGh, but not cheap by any means. IMO, Benitez would prosper in both Pro Player Stadium, and a no-pressure environment.

December 6, 200322 yr That was a good move. Fox was a big guy on the pen when it came to close situations, he got the job done everytime. I cant believe the Redsox let that guy go! He can be our back up closer for Looper and our setup man when the season starts.
December 6, 200322 yr Chad Fox should be our closer. He was big for us and I trust him more than Pooper Scooper (Looper).
December 6, 200322 yr Chad Fox should be our closer. He was big for us and I trust him more than Pooper Scooper (Looper). You guys should trade for chirs hammond. The yankees fan base and brass hate him...I bet you could get the yanks to pay down some of his salary too.
December 6, 200322 yr Fox has proven time and time again that he can not handle the closers role, the same way Braden Looper has.
December 6, 200322 yr If Fox becomes the closer, that would put a large dent in our relief corp, specifically setup man. How are you gonna get to the closer if the setup guy can't hold the lead? I know we could sign a setup man, but I'd rather us spend the money saved on the Pudge deal to sign a closer.
December 6, 200322 yr If we could sign a closer, it would be best. But if it came between Looper and Fox, Fox wins.
