I'm fine with Mathis starting. He's a great asset to have with calming down and handling young starting pitchers like Alvarez. There were numbers posted how in 2013 pitchers were exponentially better when Mathis was with them behind the plate as opposed to Brantly. While the guy might not be a good hitter, he's a great game manager.

 

The bigger issue is Realmuto shouldn't have been the guy to call up in the first place. Should've just called up Brantly and send Realmuto to AAA for that time.

What do you guys honestly see as a successful year for Garrett Jones? I think if he can hit .270-.275ish with 25 HR and 80 RBI can be written down as successful.
