May 24, 201511 yr I never thought I'd be happy to see Mathis on his way back. If Donk L.E. can come back at the same time... Marlins activate Donk L.E. and Jeff Mathis, option Donovan and Jhonatan Solano. Please?
May 24, 201511 yr The way this season has gone, salty being released after paternity leave, Redmond being fired, wouldn't shock me to see the Solano brothers sent down at the same time. Donovan also happens to have a batting average in the .160s so there's no fooling the front office this time, he may finally be on his way out. Jhonatan is obviously out regardless.

We might see them send down Realmuto for Mathis and Gordon for Kelly. SOLANOS IN THE STARTING LINEUP EVERY DAY
May 24, 201511 yr Eh, who knows? We might see them send down Realmuto for Mathis and Gordon for Kelly. SOLANOS IN THE STARTING LINEUP EVERY DAY JT needs to stay. He's been horribly victimized by bad luck especially with his speed. 13% k rate and 23% LD rate means that .230 BABIP aint gonna last forever

He's been horribly victimized by bad luck especially with his speed. 13% k rate and 23% LD rate means that .230 BABIP aint gonna last forever Oh of course, he's actually been great despite the results on paper. I think he ends up as a top-7 NL catcher by the end of the season.

Bold prediction! you mean just offense or offense & def? I didn't realize how unlucky JT has actually been which is I guess why I posted those stats

May 25, 201511 yr Combined. Girl, you know WAR is my shiiiitttt. NL catchers I'd take over RealDeal: Posey, Lucroy, Mesoraco, Grandal, Molina You forgot d'arnaud, pierzynski for this year, Derek Norris in San Diego, the Washington catcher. There are a bunch of catchers I'd take over him this board overrates him very much

Sure there are a bunch of guys better than him, but he's still a very solid player for a position that has been lacking in recent years. At least he's not Paulino/Buck/Solano/Trainor/Baker/Salty/Mathis

May 25, 201511 yr Anyone hear Prados quote about Mathis stepping up as one of the leaders in the clubhouse as of late?
May 25, 201511 yr Anyone hear Prados quote about Mathis stepping up as one of the leaders in the clubhouse as of late? No I didn't. Where is that from?
May 25, 201511 yr No I didn't. Where is that from? Frisaro retweeted someone from ESPN that Prado specifically mentioned Mathis "is the guy stepping up in this clubhouse showing leadership and guidance" I thought it was interesting as Mathis, while clearly a veteran "professional" guy , isn't necessarily the one you think of as a vocal leader. But it's nice to hear.
May 25, 201511 yr Author I'd take Rottino over Mathis. Just saying. Meh, Mathis is fine as a backup. He's a good catch and throw guy and he calls a good game. Rottino is a 35 year old journeyman with no offensive upside and does not have the trust of the Marlins staff like Mathis does. (That being said, the Marlins staff being on the DL with Mathis makes this...funny? sad? I'm not sure...)
