Dan Jennings Fired

Featured Replies

Remember when @Admin said Loria was letting the baseball people run the show? I guess not.

Literally no one else bought that though.

So how much dead money is going towards coaches/executives now? This is getting insane.

I have to imagine we are paying Mattingly a ton if he's going to put up with this nonsense.

Just so everyone's aware, we now have had more managers than any other team in baseball since this team came into the league (15). Next most is 12 with the Astros.

I have to think Ozuna's going to get shipped out of town ASAP for a bag of balls post-WS.

It wasn't loria's decision to put DJ in the dugout. It was his decision to remove him from it and now remove him as GM.  Don't want to believe that, that's cool

You keep drinking that Kool-Aid.

You just know they're going to trade Ozuna for nothing and then he will excel somewhere else. It's almost his destiny.

One more thing. You're basically saying I believed that it wasn't Loria's decision to make DJ manager when it actually was.  Why would my source lie and tell me that?  My source isn't Julie Loria.  This person would have no reason to lie about that.  Loria stayed out of that decision, he didn't make DJ manager.  This is simply a fact.  I know it is, you know nothing on the subject.

Now I'm going to go watch TV and drink some kool aid.  Later

Not sure what Ozuna has to do with DJ'D decision to play him while struggling. Isn't that more on the FO for not sending him down sooner?

In any case, trading him would be a huge mistake.

Culture of losing. Ozuna will excel somewhere when he gets traded. You are on the money. Upvote for you!

Admin you keep drinking that soda. I am drinking a fanta orange myself.

But wasnt it Loria's decision to fire Red?

And Loria COULD have stopped Jennings from going to the dugout.

Ozuna was still better than Ichiro.

What do you want the manager to do?  Play the worst players?  And then have the owner STILL expect to win?

:lol  Loria

Considering the whole Girardi fiasco, I can see Loria firing DJ because they disagreed over Ozuna. Remember that Loria had a personal vendetta against Chris Valaika because he called out Tino Martinez's crazy locker room choking incidents.

Nothing surprised. I've expected this thing would happen sooner or later upcoming offseason. I didn't like DJ as a GM and a manager, I feel some pity on him.

I'm so confused I need to know more...

Is this really over things as small as playing Ozuna?

And was the last few weeks of him likely coming back fake or was he really gonna be back and something changed recently?

Also sidenote if someone can be fired over putting Ozuna in the lineup Ozuna needs to get out of here as soon as possible because there's now no chance of him succeeding here long-term because Loria clearly has it out for him.

No, this is all about Loria's delirium. Simple. Just more chaos added to the chaos, makes sense.

Yes and yes he could have. However at the time, he decided to trust his "baseball people" and they elected to go with DJ. He didn't step in and override them even though he could have.  Couldn't have it both ways though. Either you get mad about him stepping in or you get mad about him not stepping in.

I'm not going to sit here and defend Loria though, its clear to those who read this thread that I'm doing anything but that. Just clearing that moment up. He did not make the decision to make DJ manager.

When asked if they considered reassigning DJ , Samson said no because he was the GM and demoting him wouldn't have been fair to him, thus a parting of ways seemed best.

He could be just putting a positive spin on things but if that's true I think that's a respectable decision.

Positive spin.

Without bringing up any of Loria's differences with DJ, Samson made it seem like DJ was involved in today's decision and that this was more mutual than we think. Samson basically hinted that the new Front Office without Jennings (which has new people now but was reshaping itself since May) was the preferred way to move forward and DJ just didn't fit into that picture... and that DJ pretty much knew that.

I sure as hell like that explanation more than "Loria hates DJ for playing Ozuna."

I wonder where the truth lies.

Its like Loria said, look baseball people, fucking shit can ass fire Red.

I really dont give a fuck who you put in charge.

So he interfered, then stepped back, now he is interfering again.

Fuck I swear he needs medication.

What the fuck do you want Samson to say though?

We told DJ to quit, he wouldnt quit, so we had to fucking fire him.

*shrugs*

I think its a little of both and other stuff too. And until last week, everyone including DJ assumed he'd be back.

I think that's just the text book willy nilly decision making style under this FO. Normal day in Marlins land.
