Between him and DelPiano and Benedict from the Pirates, we are at least bringing in some respected, competent people from organizations that know what they are doing.  Hopefully it pays off.

well if he's had anything to do with the current astros team which i love, then nice signing. This is curious:  Ricciarini said he would be doing "nuts and bolts" scouting, and will be working along with the team's recently boosted analytics department. He said it's a nice balance of both worlds.

to be fair, the fact that's he's coming from the astros and we got some dudes from the pirates makes me think all this analytical talk ain't such BS. that is until they go and trade ozuna, sign cespedes and fister

but what's the point of hiring these pretty high profile guys that come from seriously analytic bent organizations? (benedict, Ricciarni and that other pirates guy)
