I didn't see it but you apparently did so I'm just asking for the details. What'd they offer?

 

 

Scott Boras is Jose's agent meaning the fish would likely have to give him a contract that comes with nearly zero discount even though he has arby years left.  They'd take on all the risk without any reward. He wouldn't take a Yelich type deal (more money obviously, just the idea). So, its possible they did offer a fair deal and he declined that. I don't know what they offered and neither does anyone here. 

 

 

It's fair to say with his production today that what ever the numbers were it wasn't enough.  Or else Jose would have signed, I'm sure. 

 

I also feel that the timing of it was unfair on both sides and should have waited because of the TJ surgery. 

 

 

Offer Jose 5/90 with the yearly breakdown being 8, 14, 20, 23, 25 and see if he turns it down. I truly doubt he or Boras would. Leaves him wide open for a huge payday in his age 29 season.

So they should have offered him whatever it takes even though he isn't a FA and won't be for years? That'd just be bad business. And Boras is historically known to not let his guys sign long term deals that buy out FA years and Jose has followed Boras' advice in the past so odds are he would again.
