IF he just wants to cut $ continuing to make money with low attendance, fan unhappiness, the team hovering around .500 and NOT win, then your statement is true. BUT if he TRULY WANTS TO WIN, and those words have been said by underlings (I didn't make that up), Loria will NOT slash payroll but will become a buyer and not a seller.

Hopefully when Stanton gets the huge increase either we have a new owner OR the team is so good that Loria gets addicted to the winning and decides at least for a few more seasons that he'll bite the bullet on the payroll and keep it worth a damn. As bad as his history has been I don't really think Loria slashes payroll just to do it. I think if payroll is up and he sees we have a contender he'll at least stick with it for a couple of seasons.

July 23, 201610 yr well for the naysayers I guess in theory he wouldn't have to slash payroll but we could still lose key guys since a lot of people will be getting a pay raise anyway as they progress through their early years.
