I believe marlins' last espn sunday night game was in 2004 vs Atlanta based on my memory. last sunday night game was probably the steve cishek game in seattle. spoiler alert: they both lost. judging by our success vs. Atlanta this year, we will lose yet another sunday night game. the start of the second half begins with this one.

Did this game already happen?

Its happening tomorrow

A must win game for all intents and purposes.

With Mets and cardinals now ahead and gaining steam, I'd say so. Change of scenery helps. Get away from turner field. Good riddance to that stadium after this year.

for fuck's sake Marlins don't fuck this up.

Second half of the season starts tonight. To make this thing work, you gotta go 48-33 at least or here comes another long winter.

we are opening today with no Breslow, narveson, Clemens, Jackson, urena.

I'm happy Koehler has his head down sleeping. this way he wont need to go to the hotel and rest because he starts an early game tomorrow., right @miamibaseball?

This is still a regular season game and we need to win but I like the idea of this Fort Bragg game. As long as this doesn't balloon into a cartoonish event over time this one might become a solid MLB tradition. Glad we're first.

Whats the dimensions of the park? Im thinking ''IF'' Stanton hits one out it might end up in the ocean or a river

331 down the lines, 387 in the gaps, 405 in center.

Sounds like it'll be a one-off. They are converting it into a softball field (smaller dimensions) and a recreational area.  I guess they could change it again but it seems like they don't plan it. Could maybe build fields at the other forts around the states though.

Ah interesting but I meant more on having a game this weekend on any base not just this one but yeah I guess they'd have to go through the trouble of building more fields. Just seems like a simple enough plan I think. Have the bases build the fields and the teams just rotate in like a regular road trip. Doesn't seem too intrusive for the teams for something that "could" hold some meaning if done properly.

Also, seems like something the Padres would really be able to get behind.

Seven hours until the start of the season in my eyes. We can't afford to lose 34 more times if we want to make the playoffs

Dont bet on the Marlins winning the division, id say if anything it would be the wildcard, same as in 97 and 03. Our only real weakness this season has been our starting pitching, bullpen has settled down. If only we had one more Ace pitcher..... :(

I happen to think if marlins make the playoffs somehow, they can do well. they step up vs the ultra tough teams but cant beat the braves or twins am I right? well today is a big day since its the second half. you have to own Atlanta for the rest of the year.

I would hate to see the Mets run away with the wild card. Starting pitching has been awful this entire road trip. Let's hope Conley can bounce back.

funny you should mention that. remember these games against Atlanta, Minnesota, and other little games that got away? like some of those philly and mets games? mets fan would be saying "i would hate to see the marlins run away with the wild card". this is why every single little game matters in april may and june. we need to win as much as we possibly can and just as important, handle business face to face.

Tonight is a huge game in my opinion. This fucking garbage against he Braves has gone on long enough. Its one thing if we were just losing outright but we are letting the Braves beat us.

Second half starts tonight and with the Nationals and Mets winning big today. This is a must win. Im tired of being up and down with this team. They need to show what they have.

On another pre-game note, Edwin Encarnacon has 76 RBI lol. Thats on pace for 152.
