I've said this before but it actually wouldn't be out of character for Loria to spend money in this situation. He doesn't do it often but when he's seen the need for it Loria does open up his pockets. We'll find out tomorrow how serious he really is about this playoff push.

 

From the picture posted of his reaction to Rea's injury, it appears he does care.  And I guess I feel somewhat similar in that something was done (even it was a lateral deal) and after the effort, the team is in the same position.  That is, another injury causing another hole in the line up.  So it doesn't matter if it was a #2, #4, or #5, it's still a hole.  And with the trade it weakens the farm system although not certain the Marlins had any choice if they want to make a run.

Loria has always at least attempted to better the team at the deadline and I can't imagine he wouldn't this time as well. Agreed. However, with TV deals and revenue sharing as it is, money does not seem to be what teams want.

I saw that on the trade deadline thread, and I have never heard of this before.  Obviously very bad news on MRI which makes sense since he went on the dl IMMEDIATELY.  Kind of expecting it after that move.  Although we no longer have him, it doesn't fill the hole we were trying to fill.
