May 2, 20179 yr Mike Hill built a super bullpen, and the best arm so far is a guy who wasn't supposed to make the team. Discuss.
May 2, 20179 yr Author Preston just took one for the team in the postgame show and called these assholes the Devil Rays. Good job, Preston.
May 2, 20179 yr Can't put everything on the super pen idea. They haven't been lights out but they also haven't all been shit outside of Tazawa. Phelps seems to be turning a corner. Tazawa needs to go.

Tazawa needs to go. Some guys have been ok, but, all in all, the pen has been a disappointment imo. They built this year's team to win games like this one, and they got outbullpen'd tonight. Outbullpen'd = not a word.
May 2, 20179 yr I know they need thinks to talk about and it's worth a discussion but they can't put this entire loss on that slide play. We had chances to win in spite of that play.

Outbullpen'd = not a word. I agree with this. I'm just saying if Tazawa goes I think the pen can hold it's own over the season.
May 2, 20179 yr Author I agree with this. I'm just saying if Tazawa goes I think the pen can hold it's own over the season. Yeah, Tazawa is definitely the worst.
May 2, 20179 yr Chen was serviceable. This is what worries me about Ziegler. I intended to mention it yesterday but it seems like when he's off he's just burying balls in the dirt and can't seem to get that elevation for strikes. Honestly felt like another lifeless game and with the exception of the two out rally in the 8th, there was ZERO punch after the Rays scored. I have tremendous respect for Ichiro, but his at bats lately are simply unacceptable. He's been taking strikes and taking the most off balance and awkward swings. Tazawa has been terrible. Just another punchless loss. It feels like the team is just like whatever we lose its only May 1.
May 2, 20179 yr Just another punchless loss This I completely disagree with. That would imply they didn't try and they just accepted defeat. That my friend, is bullshit.
May 2, 20179 yr Is Mike Hill the worst GM of all times, serious question. Miss you Beinfest. I think this is what they call a rhetorical question. And please, Beinfest was awful too.
May 2, 20179 yr This I completely disagree with. That would imply they didn't try and they just accepted defeat. That my friend, is bullshit. The at bats to close out the game were awful.
May 2, 20179 yr Honestly felt like another lifeless game and with the exception of the two out rally in the 8th, there was ZERO punch after the Rays scored You cannot say there was zero punch while excluding the inning that we did make an attempt at a rally. That's makes no sense. That's like saying "I'm a virgin except for that night I had sex." That's twisting the narrative in your favor. At least use logic in your negativity please.
May 2, 20179 yr The at bats to close out the game were awful. The fact they failed doesn't mean they didn't try or didn't care. Again, I hate this argument every time. It implies that all a team needs to do is try and care and they can't fail ever.
May 2, 20179 yr I think this is what they call a rhetorical question. And please, Beinfest was awful too. Blasphemy! The guy worked wonders with a 12 million payroll.
May 2, 20179 yr If Yelich hits a HR instead of ending the inning n the 8th, all of the sudden the narrative changes from they didn't care to this team has heart. All based on the outcome of one swing? How ludicrous would that be?
May 2, 20179 yr The fact they failed doesn't mean they didn't try or didn't care. Again, I hate this argument every time. It implies that all a team needs to do is try and care and they can't fail ever. I get that but I guess its more of the approach. Look how the Rays made us work and took pitches.

I intended to mention it yesterday but it seems like when he's off he's just burying balls in the dirt and can't seem to get that elevation for strikes. Ziegler doesn't throw many pitches in the strike zone so when the opposing hitters lay off, he might struggle. Either way, his way of getting outs is getting hitters to chase out of the strike zone and get them to hit soft groundballs. Almost worked out for him tonight, but the ball Souza hit was too soft. And I still think the umpire ruling was BS; that looked like interference, but whatever.
May 2, 20179 yr This I completely disagree with. That would imply they didn't try and they just accepted defeat. That my friend, is bullshit. The most consistent thing about this team is their resiliency.
