Leiter joins Romney and Glavine group

Man I can't believe we're getting rid of Hill and getting ourselves into a Stewart . it's like trading Loria for a Loria fack

Also, check out Fangraphs articles from his GM tenure. They eviscerated and skewered that dude.

I'm completely on board with everything that you are saying.  There is one silver lining though.   It is much easier to fire people running baseball operations than it is to find someone willing to pay $1.3 billion for a baseball team and then have that ownership group approved by the league.  The worst case scenario would be if Loria cannot get a sale put together and he decides to stick around.  The second worst case would be this Romney Group with Dave Stewart in charge of baseball ops.  It is a pretty distant second place though.  I mean the guy can always get fired right?

Loria will not stick around. He's not selling to make a profit, even though he undoubtedly will, he's selling because he no longer wants to own a team. He's out of here one way or another. Taking the team off the market is not really an option here.

I agree.  Although his age may have been a factor in his decision, I really think the determining factor was Jose's death.  Jose was his son he never had.  This is shown by how he wants the statue at Marlins' stadium, the paying of Jose's funeral, and now seeing that the MLB life insurance policy given to the Marlins is given in a trust for the welfare of Penelope's education and Jose's mother.  I would not be surprised if some of Loria's estate does not go to the Fernandez family.

"Stewart left San Diego after the 1998 season and interviewed for assistant GM positions with Oakland and the Florida Marlins. He was a finalist to replace Frank Wren in Florida but his concern about the high crime rate in South Florida led him to turn down the position."

Haha! This moron!

Sounds right to me too.

That's word for word straight out of his Wikipedia page so I'm not sure I buy that.  Doesn't take away from the fact that he sucks though. I wasn't aware that he was going to have a stake in the team if that group won the bid.  Makes thing seem even more dire.

I know, you're right. It was still hilarious and fit the idea of how dumb he is.

Fair.  Let's run with it.

Just hope somebody closes on this already so there can be some progress for the team.

If Dave Stewart gets a spot here there will be no more progress ever again.
