Loria vs Miami-Dade County: One Last Battle

The first time the Marlins played at the ballpark was March 6th, 2012 vs UM. So let's say that's the latest possible time Year 5 could end would be March 5th, 2017. That's means that the sale of the Marlins happened at least 5 years and ~7 months after the BSA went into affect; it says basically that in the article as well (they say 5 years and 6 months).

That's 7 months too late. 6 months if you think the time would only start with official MLB games (which would be odd, but regardless).

From April 2012 to 2013 is 1 yr. Or am I missing something?

Depends on what the language "in the year" means, and when their years start from.

This sale seems to have gone through at a questionable time. It's either the beginning of the sixth year or the end of the fifth year. Or neither, and just the fifth year of its calendar or from the date of signing. Well, then the actual date of agreement would matter.

Dunno.

The wording says he pays so and so if the team is sold "in year 5" that means you count each year as a whole, not as "how many years since the ballpark opened."

So 2012 was year 1 OF the ballpark being opened, not SINCE it opened.

2013 is year 2, 2014 is year 3, 2015 is year 4, 2016 is year 5, and 2017 is year 6.

Yes @Marlins Phenom 2017 is 5 years SINCE the ballpark opened but 2017 is year number 6 of the ballpark.

This is similar to the way people count their age. A one year old baby is actually in year 2 of their lives, not year one. We call them a year old because they haven't completed their second full year but they have lived through 2 calendar years.

Just called them 'seasons" not years. You're like the french using commas instead of period for decimal digits. What's next the metric system? go shower you french hippie

"Seasons" doesn't work as a terminology because if the sale were to happen in, say, November, then it wouldn't be during a "season" it would be during a "year".

And I ain't French though I do enjoy French toast, French fries, French vanilla, and French kisses.
