We just won a World Series, resigned the core of our team and are in progress on getting a ballpark. We will play until at least 2007 in South Florida and our owner is being very good.

I think we need to stop saying that we don't trust some recent moves, the stadium won't happen, this is going to be 1998 all over again and look at the reality.

Beinfest has pulled a rabbit out of his hat by signing Lowell and Castillo to contracts that don't handcuff this team, he also has some very good young pitching and some very good players who are signed in Conine, Cabrera, Willis and Pierre.

We will compete in 2004 and 2005 and 2006 and 2007 for our new ballpark.

word cape.

if we are competitive, the fan base grows, then increased likelihood of getting that stadium, with the team we have, add two arms in the bullpen, we can make the wildcard again, hell, maybe even win the east for time

our opening day lineup is just as good as what we fielded last year, and our rotation is better, taking into account the improvement of pavz, penny and beckett, and the addition of Dwill. things are looking up boyz and girlz!

2004, right now, looks to be good on the field for the Marlins. Who knows, maybe loria wins the Florida and New York Lottos, plus with some extra painting sales and season tix money, we could have a ballpark.

Right. I don't mean it literally UberUbi. What I am saying is we have survived expansion, contraction threats, relocation threats, and 10 losing seasons. We have also laughed, cryed, yelled, smiled, won and lost with this team and I will be a fan until I die or the teams is moved outside of the State of Florida, whichever comes first.

The nails got removed from the coffin this season, let's work to keep them off.

Hey, if some people don't agree with the moves we made, you don't want them to speak out? Some people don't like being lap-dogs that follow everything management tells them. It's not being negative for the sake of being negative, it's just not agreeing with a certain move. So what? I don't agree that we'll get Vlad, but that's being "negative" around here, so should I just shut up? Come on guys...

Hear, hear, Cape.

I agree with you totally. We already have the core of a damn good team next year, and will challenge for the NL East title. We just need to fill in a few more pieces and we'll be on our way.

How ae we being negative because we took off our teal glasses realize that new ball park doesn't mean increase payroll or competitive team on the field.I don't think Loria has those intention but I still need to see what happen in the next four years.

Here you go, you want me to paint you the picture of the next four years without the hopes of a new stadium?....................................................Do you hear that, silence, that is what its going to sound like at the ballpark..WHY???because there is no hope. Do believe in Loria? no ..Yes..Well given his track record with the team and three years in Montreal? YES I believe..the window IS RIGHT NOW!!what are we waiting for...No owner is going to sit there and lose money. It depends on the size of his bankaccount how long he'll take the loss three, four or five years.Ok that's the bottomline, he'll either sale it and will played this musical chairs with the owner seat once again or move the team out here. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR??? He'll sale off the team?? pieces to keep a float...if there no hope why bother?Do you people understand are you fans of baseball..the Marlins..or I guess you rather this be a one sport a year town and watch our Marlins from a far :confused

I said ....

I'm not sure what are Loria intentions.I support the Marlins stadium proposal and realize is the only way the team will survive. What I can't have my doubts?Do I sit here and bash Loria ? No ...

So far Loria has done better job than any one in here thought(Yes even you).I'm just acknowledge how things have gone wrong in other cities that have new ballparks.

Agreed. I am the most pro-Loria here, if there is such a thing, and I have always loved this franchise and will continue to do so. I recently questioned the move Beinfest made to trade Redman in terms of value - I though we were going to tender to Redman, and with that in mind, I felt dealing him away for Neu and a PTNBL/cash was kind of selling his value short. I admit that i might not see the whole picture, and cant wait to see who is not offered arbitration - and that might be the plan with freeing up money wtih this FO.

That said, I agree with Cape in that there is a little too much negativity creeping up on this team - a team coming off its second WS title is 6 years. Most of the negativity is in the media - but Cape, your the man, and you are allowed to vent all you want.

Ok lets break it down

Where it hasn't worked

The Tigers...What young talented player do they have that they could keep? A corner stone? A franchise player?...Well, they don't...they have to build within and go out and sign a big fish to alot $$$ and hope he lives up to it. Well, most of the time it doesn't happen because those going to somewhere like Detroit are lookin to get paid

The Brewers..Yes they had a Sexson and have or soon to be had a Jenkins, but what else? They have those players and what do they get alot sausage races, alot of L's and empty seats. They realize what they are and what they have. The Brewers are a sleeping GIANT...yes laugh but its true. They been stacking there farm system with alot young very good talent. They a winner not a one man team, so yes they trade there best player to acquire more talent. I'm getting away from the point, the point is because of that new stadium they had the money to offer Sexson that 8million a year deal

The Reds...again similar to the Brewers, they trade everybody on there team. WHY??to change up, acquire more young talent to build around there young superstars

Do I need to go to those places that it has worked???The formula is not very hard or complicated. Build your farm system, acquire young talent at the right times, and have a young talent team ready to explode at the right time, going into a new stadium....perfect blueprint the Phillies. The Marlins have that chance RIGHT NOW, but if they wait that talent won't be here.

Making up excuses ...I'm suppost to believe 100% in Loria ?

I just have some doubt that all but everything wi be ok ...

All I am saying is we shoud be thankful our franchise is where it is. Look at Montreal or Milwaukee which both have been abused and mismanage to the point of almost having to declare bankruptcy. We lose money, but at least we float.

We should be thankful for having such blessings on this team instead of just tearing i apart because we don't have the cash nor the will to go out and get every free agent possible all the time.

I like Loria, I like Beinfest and I love my Marlins. They do well to the people of Florida, something the Dolphins and Heat ownership don't. The Marlins have brought two World Series o Florida in twelve years and yet people still think we are a fluke. Don't bend under all the media pressure, we believed all along and now we are on top. We must not fall of our own will, let them take the #1 spot from our dead, cold fingers!

We are the World Champion.

We are the best.

There are none better.

Guy I understand your pain man, I'll just say this there are thing we don't understand and probable will never understand. But I have the fullest confidence in Beinfest and Co. I for one couldn't say that last year even after the Preston/CJ deal, followed by the Hampton deal. Everything leads to something give it time patience is a virtue. One door leads to other options. Have many last year thought Redman a 12 game loser(I believe) would win 14 games this year? People laugh at this trade. Hey let wait and see, it not like the season start tommorrow. :thumbup

Beinfest uses what I like to call the weakest link policy on who to get rid of.

Last year he got rid of the K Borthers: PDub and CJ

This year he got rid of the human fan:DLee

Understand?

Right now I don't like our chances with the stadium, primarily because of the stupid bureaucrats in Miami, which stop our every chance to build a ballpark. I mean, even Jebbb stopped our last attempt to get a stadium built, which would have worked then.

Additionally, I can't seem to understand what the Marlins are doing. I hear we're involved in signings, but I haven't seen any real evidence of it. Although the loss of Pudge was expected, I was hoping we could keep him. Right now, I feel that we need one more OF bat, preferrably in LF to strengthen our lineup. Hee Seop Choi needs more work in the minors. I would much rather have Conine at first, and say Jay Payton in left.

Another thing, WE NEED RELIEVERS. I don't know why we haven't been more aggressive in signing, but just getting Mark Neu or whatever won't do the trick. We've already lost Urbina and Helling, and I hope we don't decide to put the pen on the backs of losers like Almanza and Tejera. The market is getting way too thin as it is, and I want us to get two decent guys. Isn't Mike DeJean available cheap?

On the stadium thing and Miami bureaucrats lets just say $$$$ coming from someone that doesn't want the Marlins to ProPlayer ...put 1 and 2 together and you'll have your answer to this mess, it happen in Tally a couple of years back with John Henry :whistle

Why over spend??? The Market is about to flooded with non-tender guys that will devalue alot of the free agents on the market right now...Key date this Sunday Dec.20th
