Not defending the situation... talking about Romo specifically. If the option was 2 good bullpen guys for 5 million each over one guy for 10 million I'll take that. But yes they haven't done that yet either.

But it’s apples to oranges, I do not get why Mish mentioned that even. This Romo deal is 5 million guaranteed. That was too much for Jeter so why should we think that 10 million guaranteed for two guys won’t be too much also? That wouldn’t make sense. They could’ve declined Romo’s option for 2021 or dealt him beforehand. Mish wrote that as if the full 10 was guaranteed.

You can’t say one day you want to win more and are in buy now mode and then do everything that’s basically the complete opposite of that

I just hope we don't have to trade our top prospect to the Padres for them. Or would we have to trade players to the Phillies to sign guys now?
