This seems fine going into the season (ignoring the 1 trade?). This is "nobody is asking for anyone really good" for me. I don't know what the expectation is here. They have passable replacement guys as their 6th+ 2B/SS/3B. They aren't stashing a 1+ WAR player in AAA. Sure Devers and Nunez could be better and the 2017-2019 could have been better, but this doesn't show a complete lack of organizational competence at all. I'm just saying here - this is a bit dramatic about complaining about your 6-82B/SS/3B types in the organization, when your first 5 are pretty good. This also ignores the lower minors is stacked (Watson, Salas, Cappe, Morisette, Lewis). We got a lot to complain about, but replacement level injury call ups is a bit much. Just some perspective.

I disagree.  Who cares what you have in the lower minors, none of those guys are expected to perform at AAA this year.  Just like none were expected to contribute last year in AAA.

Both years this organization has commited real organizational crime to have no real options in AAA in those spots.  

Last year it was a Isan Diaz and others show.

This year its Dunard, Gonzalez and other trash options, I guess thats the real issue, they actually have DONE a better job this year with having organizational depth in AAA for the middle infield, which shows how massively BAD last year was.

So let me upgrade their work this year in the infield from a F to a C-.  Dunard is trash and always will be, and only has a job because of who his uncle is.  Gonzalez is at least real organizational depth.

The issue is not having anything in those spots its having guys that could play in MLB in 2022 conceiveably if needed.  Injuries happen, to not think they do is head in sand.

Even with what they have in the low minors, if it ever pans out, this new group has failed to develop a one single prospect into a quality bat in the majors.  Jazz spent his minor league career with the dbacks for the most part so you certainly can't count him - i have zero confidence that any of those guys will ever pan out and it's still years away anyway so who gives a shit at this point while Sherman and Ng sit on their asses letting valuable years tick off the starters clocks.

Almost like they ought to have the existing group stay and deal exclusively with pitching, where they’ve done well overall.  And hire a completely new group exclusively dealing with hitting.

Yes CF is the main issue for sure. And injuries do happen........... which is why they actually kept Berti, traded for Wendle, and got some veteran types like Gonzalez and Astudillo? All I'm saying here is - I don't expect them to ever get 6+ deep of good 2B/SS/3B to be able to sustain this level of injuries. That's asking for a lot. Like Anderson and Wendle are hurt. Berti-Rojas-Jazz and trying out this Williams guy and Astudillo is pretty OK when losing 2 of the main guys. What more can we expect, JT Riddle? No team in baseball can handle 2-3 injuries to this position group and expect to have good starters/bench players that far deep. At least there is the DH now so it's more limited PA for the backups. We got a lot to bitch about, this just isn't one of them. Jazz/Rojas/Wendle/Anderson/Berti is a good depth chart. They did a good job here even with failures elsewhere.

We can certainly criticize Devers/Nunez (as well as Isan) all stink though and the drafting record of hitters is extremely poor. At some point though, I can't see how this doesn't level out as you can't bat .800 on P prospects and .200 on hitting prospects forever. Hopefully Watson/Salas/Cappe/Lewis/Mack as well as getting something out of Bleday/Burdick ends the streak. Doesn't help this year though.
