I’m very checked out.

I've checked out almost completely. Some of it is because it takes a bazillion dollars to get Bally's sports. But they are still my team, and I never give up my teams personally, outside of relocation. I'm just waiting to see a new GM before I start to give them a clean slate.

This team didn't really have a chance when the season started.  The only way they will contend is if the other teams in the division get snapped by Thanos.   Even then they would be a wild card team at most.

Following along and want them to win but not surprised when they find ways to lose. 
 

I’ve actually become numb when back in the day I would blow a gasket.

For argument's sake, Aram Leighton on Twitter is insisting this is beyond just Donnie's failures and it's the flawed roster more than anything and that no manager could make this team a winner. 

Any thoughts on that?

Well Don is not the only problem, he is just one of several problems. So I agree that simply changing managers only wouldn't turn them into a winner.

Dodgers with great roster have many division titles under Mattingly, so maybe Marlins would have division title under him with great roster ……

Good point, they need to build a "Donnie-proof" roster that will still pile up wins even with Mattingly's faults. 

I am so gutted by the way the Heat were knocked out of the playoffs. Missed the go ahead shot to get to the Finals! This hurts!

In some ways, I am relieved that the Marlins are so endlessly inept. I havn't been this crushed over something involving the Marlins in a loooooong time. Thank You Marlins.

Unfortunately the people who build rosters for the Marlins have built a “winning record proof” roster regardless of who’s managing.

 

Here’s a fun example of what I mean.

 

Let’s say the Marlins and Dodgers do a manager trade.

 

2022 Dodgers with Mattingly make the NLCS at least.

 

2022 Marlins with Dave Roberts finish 3rd in NL East at best.

Yeah that Heat loss was tough to handle. 😔

 

It sucks because they had such an amazing comeback those final minutes of the 4th quarter, that it would have gone down as such a historic game 7, but just for 1-2 inches missed that shot and ended their season. How sad. 😔

I’d agree to an extent.

It’s a flawed roster, but a better manager still has us in contention despite that fact.

100% true.  They have no real CF on the roster and about 3 1b/DH types.

Now they are throwing out Willians at all infield positions, because well there really are no other options.

Similar to 2021, just with a few different names.

The infield depth in the upper minors is shockeningly BAD for two years in a ro. 

We're wasting another season that Braves and Phillies suck.

It's 100% true, but Don is making it worse.

I'm not very worried about the IF depth though. Jazz, Wendle, Anderson, Rojas, and Berti is pretty deep. How deep do we honestly expect them to go? Those 5 guys have 4.7 WAR in 574 PA. And it's not just Jazz, as it's 426 PA /  3 WAR without him. This is really solid, if not very good. I believe they've had Wendle/Anderson/Berti all on the DL/out at the same time for a few games also, and Jazz has been banged up here and there. I don't think it's fair to point to infielder 6-7-8 being a replacement level player as a criticism. Stashing a positive MLB guy in AAA is hard. You'd hope guys like Devers (also hurt) and Nunez were further along in the farm, but hey? This one doesn't trigger a complaint from me.

The lack of any talent that could be MLB level in AAA along the infield is bad.  Nobody is asking for anyone really good.

I mean AAA is absolutely loaded with passable depth catchers, very high upside corner bats, and even higher upside pitching (as well as many reliever types), so it's pretty tough to just focus on them missing a single(?) 2B/SS/3B type so when literally 3 of your top 5 2B/SS/3B guys are hurt you have to resort to one of the depth guys. The minors are really good right now overall so it's tough to focus on just this one thing. Regardless, for this specific problem:

-Brigman was solid last year, and he's still around. He stinks this year, so is this their fault? A lot of people wanted him up and given a shot already?
-Leblanc is a BABIP explosion, but they brought him in, but it's not like he is struggling. This is fine?
-Gonzalez has played every season since 2016-2021 at MLB level, and while not very good, there is an experience factor here to help during injury periods. This is the type of guy who should be in AAA?
-Astudillo is the same since 2018. This is viable AAAA player depth?
-They just traded for Luke Williams to help?
-Dunand will always have that magical HR!

This seems fine going into the season (ignoring the 1 trade?). This is "nobody is asking for anyone really good" for me. I don't know what the expectation is here. They have passable replacement guys as their 6th+ 2B/SS/3B. They aren't stashing a 1+ WAR player in AAA. Sure Devers and Nunez could be better and the 2017-2019 could have been better, but this doesn't show a complete lack of organizational competence at all. I'm just saying here - this is a bit dramatic about complaining about your 6-82B/SS/3B types in the organization, when your first 5 are pretty good. This also ignores the lower minors is stacked (Watson, Salas, Cappe, Morisette, Lewis). We got a lot to complain about, but replacement level injury call ups is a bit much. Just some perspective.
