Pudge an expo?

Featured Replies

From what I can tell, this rumor is complete bunk. A poster called "exposonly" posted the same thing on the Expos board at mlb.com, citing CBS Sportsline as a source. There's nothing on the whole site, even on the rumor mill. Right now, file this under skeptical. If it pans out, then we can discuss it. But I'm willing to bet that it won't. Any takers?

I mean I heard rumors about the Dodgers, O's, Lions..but not the 'Spos.

:lol LMAO! I didn't even notice that. For some reason, I always get them mixed up.

I was wondering why you guys were laughing.

:lol

The guy that posted that on the official Expos forum also put it on every forum of the NL East teams. It's complete crap by a poster who has never done anything except try to stir up trouble.

However, there are rumors that the Expos will announce a "significant" signing sometime shortly after New Years, so who knows. The rumor comes from an established poster on the FanHome Expos forum, but that isn't the best of sources.

:lol Hell, the Lions could probably use him somewhere.

I still don't know why you'd wanna leave the Marlins..... :thumbdown

Exactly! The man made a bonehead move to look for a couple million bucks, which he didn't get. Instead he left his home, his family, his yacht, his statue, the champs, and probably the best contract he could get.

I guess there has been no more word on this.....

Batista should of not been batting third for the orioles.

he had a .270 obp and a .393 slug! that's worse THAN MIKE BORDICK (.340 and .382).

Wilkerson's ops is .844 and he's developing more power. He does strike out, but he also walks a ton.

Nick Johnson isn't "clutch." I've watched him play, he's the kind of guy who really doesn't drive in runs. He had a .894 ops with a .422 obp, but with RISP he has an .846 ops and with two outs he has a .650 ops. Definitely not a 4 hitter, more of a two hitter.

willis, you dont get french sports TV, so you didn't hear this firsthand.

you were probably hoaxed by some message board post or another. it's not true.

and here is rotoworld's latest entries on pudge:

Dec 31

Ivan Rodriguez said yesterday that he hasn't ruled out re-signing with the Marlins, although it would mean that he'd have to sit out the first month of the season.

With so few teams interested, Pudge is probably under orders from his agent not to eliminate any possibility. Rodriguez is probably going to end up with the Dodgers or Cubs, but a sleeper team could emerge. Source: Palm Beach Post

Dec 23

The Orioles say they haven't ruled out signing Ivan Rodriguez and pairing him with Javy Lopez.

There's almost no chance that this is going to happen. Vladimir Guerrero is still out there and he's now Baltimore's top target. If he decides to head elsewhere, perhaps the Orioles could consider adding Pudge. However, they are the clear favorites to land Vladi. Source: Baltimore Sun

Dec 20

Although the catcher told a Florida TV station differently, Ivan Rodriguez hasn't been guaranteed a fourth year by the Orioles.

The Orioles are still offering Pudge a three-year deal. It's almost certain that Baltimore will end up with either Rodriguez or Javy Lopez, but at this point, it's not at all clear which one it will be. Source: Baltimore Sun

Dec 17

The Orioles left their offers to Ivan Rodriguez and Javy Lopez on the table yesterday and are still waiting for one of the two to sign.

Rodriguez's offer reportedly is for three years at $7 million a year, with incentives that could make the deal worth close to $30 million. The bid for Lopez is believed to be three years at about $6 million a year plus incentives. Since he doesn't seem to have much in the way of alternatives, it looks like Javy might be more likely to close a deal with the Orioles. Source: Baltimore Sun

Dec 16

Two National League GMs told the Los Angeles Times that the Dodgers officially got into the bidding for Ivan Rodriguez yesterday.

It appears that Pudge is currently seeking $36 million over four years. If the Dodgers sign him, they'll trade Paul Lo Duca. Source: Los Angeles Times

Dec 15

Although speculation last night was that the Orioles were very close to signing Ivan Rodriguez, it's still possible they'll end up with Javy Lopez.

It was rumored that the Orioles would sign Rodriguez to a three-year contract with a base salary of $7 million a season and incentives that would allow Rodriguez to earn $10 million a year. However, two team sources told the Baltimore Sun said the club was still leaning toward Lopez because Rodriguez was asking for more than the Orioles wanted to spend. It appears certain that the team will get one of the two catchers. Vladimir Guerrero and Sidney Ponson also remain possibilities. Source: Baltimore Sun

Dec 14

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said yesterday that his good friend Ivan Rodriguez would really like to play for the Cubs.

"I think Pudge himself wants to go there," Guillen said. "He is looking to go there. I hope he goes to the Cubs. We have a great relationship, and we are going to be in the same city." Just how badly the Cubs want Rodriguez is still to be determined. It looks like they're willing to wait and see which catcher the Orioles take off the market. Source: Chicago Sun-Times
