July 17Jul 17 Author Some thoughts:Lombard signed for under slot. He was the 4th or 5th rated draft prospects but dropped due to swing and miss concerns. Massive upside and local kid.Kleinschmit and Beard are the two marquee lefties. Let's see what our development can do with them. Their numbers don't stand out but they have some upside tools.HS guys Roberson, Tolbert and Lawson are all big upsides with college commits to powers (LSU, Auburn, UNC I believe). If we can sign all three they could be exciting to watch develop.Barker is a big 6'8 kid who has the most upside. Flashes a huge fastball, will need to develop shape and command.The rest of the guys are four-year college filler, leaning mostly to relievers. This seems to be a strategy the last few years. Peters and Kapa are the two that look like they could advance fastest.Jatniel McGree is a wildcard coming from JUCO but has some eye-opening tools.Fabio Bundi committed to UCLA and would be the first Swiss player to make the majors in over 100 years if he got to Miami. Competition level was pretty low though.Sasaki is the guy with all the buzz. He has light tower power, might eventually weigh in at 300 pounds and was a double first-round pick in Japan. Took the US College route and played at Stanford. Has no real position and will likely be a pure DH. Conflicting reports whether he is signed or will sign.

"Ever since I chose to attend Stanford, I have always had a strong desire to challenge myself in the United States. In the end, that desire won out. I felt that I wanted to see how far I could go by challenging myself in America, and that feeling became stronger than anything else."
July 20Jul 20 Author Excited to see how he does. He has light tower power and his swing looks a bit like Bryce Harper's but a little flatter. His dad coached a guy named Ohtani in high school. The downside is he is a pure dh at 6-1 270, an absolute unit.Won't hurt to make some inroads in the Asian/Japanese market either.

We can go about 500k overslot to sign him and have until 5pm Saturday (July 27th) to sign him.We went well overslot with the other hs kids to sign them away from their college commits.
