January 17, 200422 yr as a fan of the Marlins, Im diggin this deal and as a fan of dawgs all over the world, Im diggin this deal
January 17, 200422 yr Personally, I would take Japan over Detroit. For a net difference of $1.6 after taxes, who would move to Detroit from south Florida? I would.
January 17, 200422 yr how stupid can someone be to think you will even be a .500 team a year after coming 1 loss from being the WORST TEAM IN HISTORY!!!!!!!!! let alone win the WS. wow! had 2 be detroit or detwa whatever you wanna call it :banghead

If you can find such a post, show me, but I doubt you can.
January 17, 200422 yr .500 is out of the question. A .496 season could land him AL Central's playoff berth though.
January 17, 200422 yr well their offense should be much improved in 04.... it could be the best in the Central.... but the pitching is a problem(although that park is perfect for young pitching)

The Tigers aren't going to win in Comerica without good pitching. I think acquiring good (preferably young) pitching should be their priority.
January 17, 200422 yr *fan of Maroth* he showed lots of guts last year.... I hope he has a much better year in 04

January 17, 200422 yr They are all b***hing and whining, saying Pudge is all about the money and enjoy his time and Detroit's wasteland. But you can really tell that they are jealous! THe Marlins won a World Series Championship, they lost 119 games and WE are jealous?!?!?! :lol :laugh :lolup :rofl He's a little tip for those boys in Detroit: It takes more than 1 player to win a championship.
January 17, 200422 yr Yes, I joined when Redman got traded to the Marlins because he was my favorite pitcher on the Tigers in 2002 (I'm glad he got a ring, although he didn't pitch well in the playoffs). I haven't visited for a while; I came back because I wanted to get your impression on the Pudge offer. I wondered if it was the same "Ha Ha, the Tigers suck" jokes that you hear from all the national media. There were some posters who stated things like that, but for the most part, there were good opinions. Also, from what I understand, Pudge has two options right now (unless a new bidder emerages for his services): come to the Tigers or go back to the Marlins on May, 1.

Do not judge all Detroit fans just because of one uneducated, immature poster. Most of us don't think that at all.
January 17, 200422 yr Do not judge all Detroit fans just because of one uneducated, immature poster. Most of us don't think that at all. I'm not. I know that there are some good hearted baseball fans who love their Tigers as much as we love our Marlins and know we are not jealous of the situation at all. Its just a shame that a few bad apples ruin it for everyone else.
January 17, 200422 yr I just don't understand this move for the Tigers.? They're trying to rebuild a team, so they pick up a 32-year old catcher to a contract that could potentially keep them from being able to sign other players down the road, and what they really need is pitching because their pitchers are dreadful.? Well if they want to dig themselves deeper in a hole for the sake of may be 5-10 more wins next year, then so be it. Here's why: Detroit has no catchers in their system. Brandon Inge? perhaps the worst starting catcher in MLB history. Mike Defilice? A guy you put at AAA in case your two "good" catchers get injured. Maxim St. Pierre? Another light-hitting prospect. Pudge would give the Tigers a grand total of one MLB catcher and buy them a few years to develop a young backstop. He also gives a young, anonymous team a face, not to mention credibility. He gives a young pitching staff a stabilizing force. He gives fans a reason to buy tickets to Tiger games. The Tigers were so bad last year that becoming respectable is their short term goal, and Rodriguez makes them that much more repsepctable. I'm not happy about the 4th year, but I can live with it, especially since the Tigers will see several weighty contracts for crap players (Bobby Higginson, Damion Easley, Matt Anderson) go away in the next two seasons. Those are the mill stones around Dave Dombrowski's neck right now, not the possibility of Pudge Rodriguez falling apart in 2008. double D just signed estaella. i think estaella could do good if he started.
January 18, 200422 yr There is no doubt about it. Pudge only cares about Pudge. He is greedy and selfish. Period. There is no jealousy here. I'm ready for Castro to take over. Pudge can go buy another statue of himself and put it in his yard again if he wants. He's a joke.
January 18, 200422 yr :w00t Doesn't Tom Selleck play first base for the tigers? no, you're thinking of burt reynolds.
January 18, 200422 yr :w00t Doesn't Tom Selleck play first base for the tigers? no, you're thinking of burt reynolds. Nah, he got it right, Tom Selleck. Known to be a very very very huge fan of the Tigers.
January 18, 200422 yr now hes gonna finnally going to get that statue of a tiger that he always dreamed about.
January 19, 200422 yr Nah, he got it right, Tom Selleck. Known to be a very very very huge fan of the Tigers Magnum P.I anyone? :mischief2
January 19, 200422 yr They say that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery - With this in mind take a look at it from the Tiger's perspective: All Star catcher who can advance the development of what is believed to be a potential-laden young staff Marquee player that sells tickets in a sagging market and gives an identity to a young and unknown team Sound familiar? Sounds like the Marlins almost a year ago. Anyway, don't hate on the Tiger fans... Having grown up in Detroilet I can tell you that it is a great sports town and has been a great baseball town in the past. Dombrowski is just trying to do what he did down here and imitate the Marlin success of 2003 while digging out from that idiot Randy Smith.

For some reason you seem like an undercover Tiger fan.Just come out already.
January 19, 200422 yr After all the crap our franchise has taken in the media and elsewhere for five years we should be magnanimous and gracious winners and wish the Tigers nothing but success. It pains me to see people here dumping abuse on the Tiger's fans and yes, I know some of them came here looking for trouble, but we have been where they are and ought to remember how it felt to be ridiculed everywhere. We're the world champs, we don't need to be defensive, take the high road even when it requires us to turn the other cheek. Let us act like the champions we are. I hope if we can't, they sign Pudge, I hope he and they do well and bring competitive major league baseball back to Detroit, once one of the most feared and respected franchises in the game.
