Yeah, we're not going to get any good gloves.

I really think we should give the AA guy a chance after drawing 107 walks in the minors. Sure he's 27, but he can still be useful. Houston isn't a horrible back up.

Houston was probably the best pinch-hitter in baseball until the Phillies released him at the request of Admin Bowa.

you are grasping at straws hoping a AA player can be your starting third baseman.

Yeah, but who's he replacing? Ventura and Boone last year were horrible offensively (though both were good defensively.) The yankees didn't lose much much of a bat in either of them, though the gloves will be missed. However, Tyler Houston or even the guy down in double A or going to have mediocre production much like Boone/Ventura, but jsut not the glove. No one is pretending that the yankees are somehow better because of this injury, but to say we were dramatically hit is absurd, unless you consider a .719 ops good production.

Didn't the marlins win the world series with a guy from double A batting 4th who played 3rd and then right field? hmmm....

this "no named 3rd baseman in double a" is no miguel cabrera, i'll gurantee you that.

There's gotta be a reason he's still in the minors if he's 27

i dont know if its who Sorianofan is reffering to but Erick Almonte earned alot of respect from joe Torre last year while filling in for Jeter, he might be the stop gap between this year and Boone...

2003, Trenton Thunder. Brian Myrow

86 games at 3B, 24 games at 2B, 16 games in OF, 28 errors in 126 games.

bats lefthanded

this guy's good. there had had better be a really good reason he wasn't in AAA last year (like being drafted when he was 24 or something like that).

he'll be in AAA this year according to the Yankees webiste. and according to my brief, and very tired research, he was drafted when he was 23.

You're also not going to get a good bat either. Coax Mike Bordick out of retirement stick him at short and move Jeter to third. There you've upgraded your team more by upgrading the left side of the infield defense than relying on Houston or Myrow (a 27yo whose never had a AAA at bat, plays 3B comparable to Sheffield, and whose left-handed bat would not be nccessary in the already lefty-stacked lineup).

was it Jose Valverde or Oscar Villarreal that started the year pitching in the independent leagues? either way, both had good years.

Surely you jest.

The best lineup in baseball is screwed because they lost their underachieving, ninth in the lineup, 3rd baseman.

Man, that gave me a good laugh.

Ah, Keep up the good work KJC.

YEs, but his stats in double A were better than cabreras. Seriously, he'll be 27 to 28 next year. He will never be a hall of famer, but with an on base like that he will be certainly useful. Is vidro suddenly useless because he's hitting his late 20s? This man WILL NOT be jose vidro, but he also won't forget the strike zone with his "old age."

Only if we can get mike bordick out of retirement...I would start him at SS right away, he's one of the all time best defensively and he batted better than Boone last year too.

Remember, the yankees lost BOONE, not some sort of big bat.

Holy crap.

28 errors in 126 games?

At 3 chances / game, fielding % = .926

That's unacceptable. My little sister could do better.............

for a 3B, that'd place him 13th in FPCT among the 20 that qualified.

surely i do jest, Boone wasnt hacking it.

my choice would be Almonte @ 3rd...

Tyler Houston has a .930 fld % I think.

Only if Bordick would come out of retirement...

tyler houston is the best 3rd baseman around ..... lol
