January 30, 200422 yr There have been rumors that Bud Selig will abandon the NL-AL home field rotation for the All-Star Game for 2007. 2003: White Sox 2004: Astros 2005: Tigers 2006: Cardinals (pending new ballpark) 2007: Undecided 2008: Arizona? (Have Super Bowl that year) Since MLB and the NFL now seem to want and award the same city with their crown jewel event, could the Marlins get the 2007 game with a possible new ballpark and the Dolphins having a Super Bowl the same year. We were supposed to have the 2000 All Star Game, but Bud and John Henry thought it would be better in Atlanta. I WANT MY ALL STAR GAME!
January 30, 200422 yr No way The Marlins, would get it that soon after getting a new stadium because their are plenty of new stadiums out there that have been around longer waiting for their chance, their just getting to Detroit, their's no way they'll pass up Pac Bell and a few others
January 30, 200422 yr Why dont you think the Marlins would get it that soon, I think they should get it in 2004.

January 30, 200422 yr That is what I think too, but there is still a chance it could be there, but I dont want it there.
January 30, 200422 yr Why dont you think the Marlins would get it that soon, I think they should get it in 2004. Their going to play an All star game at a stadiun that it's own team doesn't want and is in the process of getting rid of? Logical Thinking goes along way and why should they play the game in Miami this year, give me reasons instead of... I want them too. The marlins will be in line if they get the new stadium for an allstar game somewhere in The 2010's.
January 30, 200422 yr The reason why it will be in Miami because there is a large population in Miami and baseball could make alot of money by letting the Marlins host it, instead of waiting.
January 30, 200422 yr The reason why it will be in Miami because there is a large population in Miami and baseball could make alot of money by letting the Marlins host it, instead of waiting. How would they make money doing it right now? If someone is considering going cross country to see the all star game the allure of a new stadium is going to bring in more tourist dollars than if it was an old stadium. Look at the list there how many stadiums have been opened recently? It proves the fact that a new stadium equals more outside attraction which they want rather than having a vast majority of the local population there which The Tourism industry of the city would obviously not want.
January 31, 200422 yr Selig owes Miami an All-Star game. and to make matters worse we don't suck any more!

January 31, 200422 yr Even if we somehow get one, it will get taken away again, I swear. From Day One Selig's had a personal vendetta against this team for no reason. It sucks.
January 31, 200422 yr Author Loria is on Selig's good side. If the Marlins get a ballpark, Loria will use the IOU on Selig, and he will award the game to the Marlins in 2005. The key is getting the stadium and pressuring him nto giving it to our new ballpark in 2007. Arizona is being told no, but we have the IOU to get ahead in line.

Who else has had an all star game taken away from them? I've been waiting for the 2000 Miami All Star Game for 7 years.

League could use it as incentive to get the new stadium built. Also, the league owes Miami an All Star game after pulling out of the Pro a few years ago. This is very possible. Excellent topic. :hat The champ
