February 12, 200422 yr I don't remember seeing a thread about this yet, so if there is one, forgive me please. What are your predictions for 2004? My predictions are.... ? Miggs will continue being a bad ass. ? J.P. will also continue being a bad ass. ? Castro will shine on the field. ? Choi will be okay. Not red hot but acceptable. ? Pavano will give us a lot of surprises. ? AGon will give us a few surprises as well. He has the potential. These are just my opinion. Sorry I don't have any stats up. I am not a big numbers kind of girl.
February 12, 200422 yr can't really argue against anything you said there. i think Choi will do better than what most people think. and what kind of surprises are you expecting from Pavano? :shifty
February 12, 200422 yr Author Well, Pavs is pretty awesome, IMO. I think he'll be one of the fan faves this year. I know he already is now, but if he keeps doing a good job, he'll be waaaay up there on the popularity list.
February 12, 200422 yr Author Oh yea....I also see us in the playoffs again. Will we be World Champs again? Would be AWESOME but I am not sure. Don't want to keep my hopes up.
February 12, 200422 yr You say Castro will shine on the field, but more importantly will he shine off the field?
February 12, 200422 yr Author Are you talking about the rape case? I hope he's innocent, but we'll see what happens.
February 12, 200422 yr Are you talking about the rape case? I hope he's innocent, but we'll see what happens. Yeah. Who knows how that can happen. He could have 10-15 homeruns at the break and go to prison or something like that. Scary.
February 12, 200422 yr Predictions... JP- .301 195 hits 66sb Louie- .311 185hits 40sb Cab's- .270 30HR 110 RBIs Lowell- .275 35HR's 125 RBIs Conine- .280 15HR's 85 RBI's Castro- .264 27HR's 90 RBI's *** Choi - .273 16HR's 80RBI's Sea Bass .265 15HR's 70 RBI's Rotation Beckett- 18-6 2.44 ERA Penny- 15-7 2.80 ERA Pavano- 15-10 3.40 ERA Willis - 16-8 3.25 ERA (I'm not gonna put any predictions on A.J., Just hoping for the best) Benitez- 35 Saves Some of these predictions might seem a little bold, but I think we can achieve these easily. Call me crazy for Willis going 16-8, but I think consistancy will be his key role in the rotation this year and prove all the doubters wrong. *** assuming he plays the whole season
February 12, 200422 yr ask me in march. i actually like to see the teams actually take the field for spring training before predicting what is going to happen in a season. its nice and all...but its really a bit soon.... tehn again its not like spring training tells us a lot 'usually'
February 12, 200422 yr LCastillo, the players are certainly capable of putting up those numbers, but that looks a lot like everyone having their best year of their careers. I highly doubt that is going to happen. I made more modest predictions earlier, and I stick by those. You can count on an injury of somekind and also an unexpected player to rise to the occasion as well as a disappointment. But I think we are a winning ballclub in contention. I also have a sneaking suspicion that the Phillies wont be as good as billed.

February 12, 200422 yr Ramon Castro: .280, .350 OBP, 25 homers, 80 RBI Hee Seop Choi: .275, .390 OBP, 17 homers, 70 RBI Wil Cordero: .285, .360 OBP, 8 homers, 40 RBI Luis Castillo: .320, .400 OBP, 3 homers, 35 RBI Alex Gonzalez: .280, .340 OBP, 23 homers, 85 RBI Mike Lowell: .285, .380 OBP, 35 homers, 125 RBI Jeff Conine: .300, .360 OBP, 15 homers, 90 RBI Juan Pierre: .315, .400 OBP, 0 homers, 35 RBI Miguel Cabrera: .295, .360 OBP, 30 homers, 110 RBI Josh Beckett: 18 wins, 2.75 ERA Brad Penny: 16 wins, 3.30 ERA Carl Pavano: 15 wins, 3.40 ERA Dontrelle Willis: 14 wins, 3.75 ERA Darren Oliver: 3 wins, 3.90 ERA (as starter) A.J. Those numbers are not exact predictions, just ballpark figures. Gonzalez, Choi and Castro are all questions, but I do believe at least two of the three will succeed in 2004, Castro being the most successful. And our rotation is most definately capable of putting up numbers around, if not better than those. To be honest, I think some of those might be modest. The only concern I have on our roster is middle-relief, something that I hope won't be need often with a rotation of inning-eaters.
February 12, 200422 yr Lcastillo, wow that was bad man, how can u predict our starters to go 64 and 31. Its more like 95-0
February 12, 200422 yr Pierre - .292 38 SB Castillo - .294 20 SB Cabrera - .270 24 hr 105 RBI Lowell - .270 23 hr 94 RBI Conine - .273 16 hr 82 RBI Castro - .251 14 hr 63 RBI Choi - .245 12 hr 65 RBI Gonzalez - .250 9 hr 57 RBI Rotation Beckett - 15-7 3.15 ERA Penny - 14-12 4.20 ERA Pavano - 12-13 4.25 ERA Willis - 12-11 4.45 ERA Oliver (half the year about 18 starts) - 6-9 4.70 ERA Burnett (about 12 starts) - 5-4 3.90 ERA Benitez - 25 saves

February 12, 200422 yr Pierre - .292 38 SB Castillo - .294 20 SB Cabrera - .270 24 hr 105 RBI Lowell - .270 23 hr 94 RBI Conine - .273 16 hr 82 RBI Castro - .251 14 hr 63 RBI Choi - .245 12 hr 65 RBI Gonzalez - .250 9 hr 57 RBI Rotation Beckett - 15-7 3.15 ERA Penny - 14-12 4.20 ERA Pavano - 12-13 4.25 ERA Willis - 12-11 4.45 ERA Oliver (half the year about 18 starts) - 6-9 4.70 ERA Burnett (about 12 starts) - 5-4 3.90 ERA Benitez - 25 saves So THIS is what a prediction without teal glasses looks like, i was wondering
February 13, 200422 yr Well I see: Cabs putting Pujols type numbers up Mike Lowell will have another monster year at 3rd Luis Castillo will be around 40 stolen bases this year JP will steal around 50+ Conine could have a 90+ or 100+ RBI season Choi will put up decent numbers in his first year A Gonz will improve dramatically and hit more Ramon Castro could be a 20 or 30 HR guy Beckett: 15+ wins Penny: 15+ wins Willis: Another amazing season-14+ wins Pavano: 13+ wins Burnett: 9 or 10 wins I may be dreaming, but I have high hopes :thumbup
