  1. His mantra should just be: Don't swing at sliders down and away Don't swing at sliders down and away Don't swing at sliders down and away...
  2. I think its better than having a big empty space in center field. If they have a plan to replace it with something more aesthetically pleasing then change it, otherwise keep it as it is. And I feel the green walls are way more of an issue than the sculpture
  3. How long til Jeter gets pushed out and realized he was only used as a publicity bargaining chip to gain traction for the sale?
  4. Our salvation is nigh. Lets hope its true. http://www.forbes.com/sites/mikeozanian/2017/02/09/miami-marlins-claim-to-have-1-6-billion-handshake-agreement-for-team/#619fa1f426aa
  5. Miggy was the only player we traded that was a real travesty as he appeared to be a future Hall of Famer when we traded him. The success of players after they leave the Marlins, not the trade itself, I feel is the most troubling aspect. This organization appears to have a real issue with motivating its players. Hanley Ramirez is the epitome of this, as after great success he dropped off more due to disinterest than a lack of skills. I feel Stanton is in that same rut and Cabrera most likely would have fallen victim to this as well. This is my largest gripe with the Loria era. The small payroll is no excuse for the lack of effort as teams like Oakland and Tampa are able to retool and get huge value out of players.
  6. I think, as of right now, Hanley Ramirez is the best player ever. I was actually surprised by looking at Fangraphs how good Hanley was in 2008 and 2009. I guess the last three years have tarnished my memory of the first half of his career, but his numbers were pretty ridiculous for a shortstop. Miguel Cabrera is the only probable Hall of Famer (if he keeps up this production for another ~5 years) and probably the best player over a career to play for the Marlins for a significant amount of time. Its interesting to note that Giancarlo has been better than the others at his age, so if he keeps up this production projection and stays with the team for another 3 years he will definitively be the best. 7. Pardon my ignorance, since I gave up watching most of the games in June, but what is the reason for Ruggiano's success. He's 30 and had zero success before in the majors. I just figured his high batting average was a fluke and that he would regress back to a sub 300 hitter. The boards seem to have faith in him, so what do you think are the prospects that his performance this year is legit and repeatable in future years?
  8. He had a small strike zone for Buck, but nothing to get so amped up about.
  9. I've also been impressed with his effective use of the delayed steal. I don't remember anyone using it as regularly and with as much success as he does. Are there any other prolific base stealers, active or inactive, who used it frequently?
  10. I have already set Cishek as the closer on my fantasy team, Ozzie better do the same
  11. Was it a bad play by Reyes? He should have tried to swipe the tag across both arms but was baited by Ankiel into trying to tag the left arm only.
  12. I have mlb.tv but am blacked out as I'm in the Nationals blackout area. I don't have MASN so I guess it's Felo Ramirez for me this weekend. I am in Arlington and I can watch it on Mlb.tv on the FS Florida Feed
  13. Caution: Rant Ahead Why does every Marlins article from Yahoo Sports have to include some comment about how the Marlins fleeced the taxpayers. I understand the need for Jeff Passan's exposé when the stadium deal was first worked out, but why do they feel the need to continue to include snide remarks whenever commenting on the Marlins. I'm suprised the editors have not curtailed this obvious bias reporting, as it questions the credibility of Yahoo Sports' journalism. I prefer their layout to the other big sports sites, but I can't see myself continuing to read their baseball coverage with such trite comments. Here are a couple examples from the past few days that are completely irrelavnt to the story at hand. All the tropical-tinged newness the Miami Marlins could squeeze out of local taxpayers Link Thanks to the craftiness of Loria, the gullibility of county officials and the resulting Marlins Park, Lachemann might have spoken a couple decades too soon Link
