April 26, 20179 yr http://m.marlins.mlb.com/news/article/226473600/giancarlo-stanton-sticking-with-plate-approach/ "It's done being mechanics," the slugger said. "I've been here seven years now. It's less and less mechanics and more your approach, and timing." If this is as it seems, it's about time... Stanton's changing his approach and being smarter at the plate and willing to fix things and ultimately improve.
April 26, 20179 yr His mantra should just be: Don't swing at sliders down and away Don't swing at sliders down and away Don't swing at sliders down and away...
April 26, 20179 yr Stanton's out of the zone swg % is exactly the same as it's always been actually (30%). what's changed is he's making more contact with pitches outside zone (54% vs career 45%) and in the zone (88% vs 81%) leading to less ks, more contact, more monster dong (he's pulling the ball more this year too part of that).
April 26, 20179 yr Author I think this approach change thing will be more tested the next time he's in a slump because that's the issue. He has trouble getting out of slumps because he falls into the same old traps over and over. If he's more willing to change things and not be so stubborn then he'll get out of his slumps quicker.
April 26, 20179 yr my point was he's not "laying off the sliders out of the zone" you hamburger heads. it's the same it's always been he's just making contact better with them now

April 26, 20179 yr Let's see what happens when he's slumping. Yep. Simple truth. Hope he keeps it up tho and obviously stay healthy. But he's confident now.
April 26, 20179 yr I just want to see what sort of numbers he can post with a full healthy season. Definitely. I really really really want to see what he can do for a 150+ game season. Hopefully this is the year

April 27, 20179 yr Changing his approach? I didn't know he could fly a plane! "No, sir...they're saying boo-urns"

April 27, 20179 yr Still waiting for his first three digits RBIs season… Ozuna hasn't gotten more than 85 RBI in a season and yet you want to guarantee him 300 million today
