She did it for the entire AB then, I saw her do it on the final pitch of the game a month or two ago.

Never seen anything like this before
Christainsen is a little far south for me... I don't pay too much attention to the HS football. I did go see Zbikowski (S at ND) play a couple times when he was considering Iowa, The only player of note from Lockport who's done anything in the past is Nick Setta (K @ ND)... If Lockport advances to the state Final, I'll be sure to watch that....

Iowa.... what happened with top recruit Williams? He's with Purdue now...When/how did that happen?

Brownlee looks like a hard-nosed runner, fights for every yard... I didn't see sims, because they cut away from teh game here in Chicago -- S&C guys are considered among the best in all of college football... They're just a collection of freak injuries.

McCarverism thread
I can't believe that nobody added this gem from last night, "A walk's as good as a home run" Is that why Barry Bonds got 232 free passes this year Tim?

Big Ten Fans
Wisky and Purdue finish with one loss.. Wisky loses their final game of the season, and a chance to play for the Nat'l Championship, as the Hawks extend their home win streak to 18 games. Michigan goes down in 2 weeks vs. Northwestern. (first time in ??? that NW beats OSU and Mich in the same season)

Jermanie Dye
You don't see a slight age gap there? 593631 yeah about 10% (33/30) heading into Free Agency See a little production Gap there? maybe a little Talent gap too? Gonzalez had one season below .800 OPS in his ML career, and a career >900OPS entering his free agency... Dye has had one season with an OPS above .900... and a career mark

Jermanie Dye
You honestly think no one will offer him over 5 mil? Doubtful. 593343 lemme see an oft injured, tempremental, poor fielding right fielder.... where is there a precedent for that? 2003 Texas Rangers $13,000,000 2004 Kansas City Royals $4,000,000

wisdom from joe morgan
My Favorite Morgasms from last night. Called Jon Lieber -- Lieberman. -- I guess he was wrapped up in the all the recent political coverage. Called Mel Stottlemyer Todd Stottlemyer. Which is OK, but I think he realized his mistake, and continued on calling him Todd. He also questioned Garndenhire's use of Nathan. When Joe Morgan is questioning your managing decisions you know you're in trouble.

Comparing Santana to the Big Unit
While I think Santana has been the best pitcher this year (well for the last 4 months), I think that is a weak argument. The fact that Randy Johnson has to play the Giants, Padres and Dodgers all year long (along with playing at Coors) while Santana plays Detroit, Cleveland, KC and the White Sox all year long, about evens out that whole argument.. though I would much rather be in Santana's shoes. Adding your best bench player isn't going to do much against a pitcher of the Big Unit's caliber. 577679 The average NL pitcher bats .145 with an OPS of .247 The AL replacement for pitchers the DH bats .265 with an OPS of .792 The average pitcher is going to strike out almost 1 in every three plate appearances. The average DH will strike out half as often. That explains the K total right there. I'd call that a significant difference. Plus I think you under value the hitters in the AL central minus KC (they do suck) Detroit, Chicago, and Cleveland have a ton of bats.

Comparing Santana to the Big Unit
Santana: 34 GS, 20-6, 228.0 IP, 2.61 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, .192 BAA, 265 K, 1 CG, 1 SO Johnson: 34 GS, 15-14, 237.2 IP, 2.65 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, .194 BAA, 282 K, 4 CG, 2 SO Talk about identical numbers! Not really trying to prove anything. I never thought I'd see a lefty dominate like the Big Unit but Santana is damn close. Both should be Cy Young winners and it shouldn't even be a contest. 577649 While I think Johnson has been the best pitcher in the NL this season, his numbers are aided slightly by getting to play in the NL and facing pitchers. The small difference would likely tip all of the numbers (aside from CG) in favor of Santana. Santana has been the best pitcher in baseball. No question.

Adam Dunn's MLB record
as a hitter in baseball, the goal... #1 is to hit a HR. - The simplest/quickest way to score a run #2 is to hit a triple - advancing yourself to the base closest to hom #3 is to hit a double #4 is to get a hit #5 is getting on base #6 is putting the ball in play while not grounding into a double play #7 is striking out #8 is hitting into a double play The trade-off between option #6 and #7 is negligable when compared to the difference between #'s 1 and 7. Swing away, as long as you have a good eye.

Adam Dunn's MLB record
I don't know... 191 strikeouts?? I'd rather not. You gotta draw the line somewhere. 577586 Strikouts are overrated... There is nobody on the Giants, without the last name bonds, who has a higher OPS than Dunn. Yet you wouldn't take that on your team? :banghead in Barry's 4th year in baseball he was .248/.351/.426 in Dunns 4th year in baseball he is .264/.387/.564 Strikeouts don't matter when you can provide that kind of power.

Bears defensive backfield
RW McQuarters gonna go down? 569552 Not soon enough for me... McQuarters is the worst starting CB in the league.

Da Bears are so gonna whoop the Packers!
Bears paid a heavy price for this victory... 2 weeks into the season, and the Bears are already without their 3 best DB's... Heading into a matchup vs. Randy Moss. That's not a recipe for success.

After Kensing's start on Wednesday.....
Its about time...we should have been on 4 man rotation since AJ went down 567257 We should have been on a four man rotation since the day after hurricane Frances. It's too late now, this decision should have been made a lot sooner. 568244 There was just no way to do it with 3 DH's in 11 days, their arms would have fallen off.
