I dont know where people get the idea the Central is a weak division? They say it because it's the truth. As a Cardinal fan I'd love to be able to say the NL Central ISN'T a weak division, but the stats say otherwise. Look at their record against the other divisions. NL Central vs. NL East 88-104 NL Central vs. NL West 85-101 You also mentioned that the NL Central had 3 teams in the Wild Card race uuntil the end. That's true, but so did the other divisons. The difference is the other two divisions had a team that was clearly better than the Wild Card teams (Braves and Giants). The NL East had The Marlins, Phillies, and Expos in the Wild Card race. The West had the Dodgers and D-Backs in the Wild Card race. The NL Central had 3 very bad teams (Brewers, Reds, and Pirates). No other division had three teams this bad. The Astros, Cards, and Cubs hsould have padded their record by beating these teams, but it still didn't help. There's no logic to suggest that the NL Central was anything but weak. The facts prove it.

Windy City Sports This is the only Cubs forum that I visit. It's a nice board, but the fans over there can be annoying.

No one expected too much out of either team this year. The Cubs were picks to win the division in a lot of pre-season articles simply because of Dusty Baker. There were probably more people picking the Cubs than my Cardinals this season.

that is awesome mattymo Yeah... I liked it too. I stole that logo from one of my friends on the Cards forum. I don't think he'll mind though. This is one thing that Cardinal and White Sox fans have in common..... their hatred for the Scrubs.

I just got done watching WGN in Chicago and the broadcasters were already saying, "When we win Tuesday." Cubs fans don't think it's possible for Mark Prior to lose regardless of who he goes up against.

If one of their players does or says something unprofessional... then that's different. The series hasn't started yet. Give them time. Mark Prior is bound to open his mouth about the Marlins.

Considering that the Cardinals and Cubs have a heated rivalry... I'm very familiar with Cubs fans. I've found a few that are decent over at the Cubs forum I visit, but that's about it. Although I was banned over at their board for some time just because I was a Cardinal fan. There's a reason why I'm rooting for the Marlins over the Cubs. This is actually one of the freindliest boards I've been to.

Who the hell are you? As Admin said I am a Cardinal fan. I usually post over here when the Marlins play the Cards or our Central Division rivals. I'm not a Marlins fan, and have never rooted for the Marlins until NOW. I'll be rooting for the Marlins throughout the month of October, because I've actually grown to like the team. I've gained a lot of respect for the Marlins from watching them the few times I have this year. I have absolutly no respect for the Braves, Giants, or Cubs. Luckily there is one team that I can root for this month.

Does anybody know what Tomko's career stats are against the Marlins? Last night the Cards announcers said that Tomko has always pitched well against the Marlins. That's why Fassero was moved to Friday.

Haran doesn't stand a chance. Don't underestimate Danny Haren. The kid is tough.

Castillo is a guy that the Cards have been after for quite some time. He may be the only second baseman that they would consider signing (considering their budget). I'd be happy with Bo Hart playing 2B next season, but Bo could very easily be a utility guy (2B/SS/3B) if Castillo were signed. Having said that, I expect the Marlins to re-sign him. It sounds like he wants to stay in Florida.

The FO has thrown his name along with Lowell as the cornerstone players so I think he'll still be here. I would like to see Edgar back but thats got as much of a chance of happening as reuniting the whole 97 team. You've got that right. Edgar along with Rolen and Pujols may be the only untouchables on the Cardinals. Edmonds would be traded long before Renteria.

What do you guys think the chances are that the Marlins will re-sign Castillo?

And, um, Fernando Vi?a. That's true, but Vina most likely won't be with the Cards next season. He may not even finish the season with the Cards.

5-2 win by the Cards. This should be a great game with both of our young guns going at it.

The Marlins have historically hit Williams hard... A lot of teams have historically (prior to St. Louis) hit Woody hard. Does anybody have Woody's stats against the Marlins since becoming a Cardinal in August 2001?

Tuesday: Penny vs Williams Wednesday: Willis vs Haren Thursday: Beckett vs ? Thursday: Beckett vs Tomko

Willis hasnt been moved, Wednesday is his regular turn in the rotation. I dont where the idea of him pitching Tuesday came from. I don't know where the idea came from, but it was announced a few days ago that Willis was moved to Tues. Woody Williams is being moved to Tuesday (his regular start would be Wed).

I have also heard its gonna be Penny-Willis-Beckett, which would put him against the Cards' rook (another one will f up) That's what I heard as well, Williams vs Penny and Haren vs Willis.

A poster on the Cards forum said that Willis' start has been moved to Wed. Do you guys know if this is true? I was looking forward to seeing a match-up between Willis and Williams

Well, actually I'm looking at rotoworld.com and it's possible that Edmonds will play. Funny, I thought he was going on the DL. I guess not. I'm all screwed up. You're not screwed up Snowstorm. It was rumored that Edmonds would join the DL until Thursday (I believe that's the correct day). Edmonds stated that he's feeling a lot better, and Larussa said he would be in the line-up either Sat or Sun. Prior to the game on Sat Larussa said that Edmonds may pinch hit on Sun, and probably wouldn't start util Tuesday.
