I guarentee you, ANY team would kill to have Pierre/Castillo batting 1st and 2nd. If anything, we have an advantage over those former world series teams. Pierre's OBP is . 350+, and Castillo's is . 380+. That combo at the top is amazing, especilly with Pudge batting behind them. This isn't the Dead Ball Era, all of the good teams in baseball now need to have power over speed in the middle of the lineup, as well as good pitching. And again, we're going to lose Castillo for nothing if we don't trade him now. Can't argue that. I think getting Hart and Drew would be great.

You're a horrible GM... Castillo isn't arby eligible... He's a regular FA... And Castillo's average is below the norm? Sorry, but seeing that he's batting like . 315, what's his normal evactly? OK, fine, then the situation is even worse. Castillo is not stealing nearly as many bases as he did last year, and he was hitting about 10 points higher by now. And lastly, I haven't seen a team win World Series with two leadoff hitters at the top of the lineup. We just don't need Pierre AND Castillo, and I believe that Pierre is much more valuable right now. Oh, and you suck. :thumbdown

Cabs isnt hot, he is good. The thing I am comfortable with right now is that while Cabs is hot, Encarnacion is almost ice-cold. This will reverse, Encarnacion is due for an offensive tear. Cabs wont continue at this pace for the rest of the season, right? :confused Drew would be a huge asset to this offense. Put him at #2 or drop him down to 5/6. The guy has very good power and I think an ability to carry a team offensively. I think La Russa has not handled him well and Drew is looking to break out. Just a hunch... I'm still not convinced that Cabrera isn't just having a temporary offensive upswing. He just turned 20, and might not be of much use if we get to the Playoffs. I would feel more comfortable with an outfield of Encarnacion, Drew, and Pierre. Cabrera would still be extremely useful on the bench.

Look, we need to get rid of Castillo now, for two players that will have an impact for some time. Bo Hart is showing some amazing stuff in St. Louis, who knows how good he can be. I've always liked J.D. Drew, and I know that he can be a big-time threat as a contact and power hitter. We aren't going to be able to keep Castillo when he goes up for arbitration this fall. I don't see it happening. Plus, I don't believe that we need two speed players at the top of the lineup. In addition, Castillo has not been himself that much lately, with his speed numbers down, and his average below his norm. I say we do that trade.

He's going to deal him... Why do you seem so certain about that, even if he is a free agent next year, it doesn't guarantee anything.

Rollerball killed off LL Cool J halfway through the movie, ridding itself of the only halfway decent character in it. They filmed an entire scene in NIGHT-VISION, for god's sake! Like I said, I think a deal is already in place. Beinfest wants to see how well Miguel Cabrera can hit the great Arizona pitching. If he hits well in the series, he'll remain in LF. if he struggles against their good pitching, the trade in place will have the trigger pulled. I think you hit the bullseye on that one. :thumbup

For a future GM your facts are wrong most of the time. The prospect acquired was Ryan Baker who is playing well in OUR system in Carolina...just under a K/IP and a 2.65 ERA So I got Ryan Snare and Ryan Baker confused. It happens. We all make mistakes. It's not like I have the info in front of me.

ummmm, well, we still saved a ton of money in that trade, and it brough JP here, so spooney is on the dl, big deal, he'll come back, and we traded that other guy, ryan snare right?, to get uggy, where as if we didnt have him we probablly would of had to give the rangers someone like bump or hutchinson........that was a smart move, that trade, so what we pay hampton, the guy isn't even doing that well with the braves, and he loses whenever he plays us, bottom line, we saved money in that deal, LOTS, and have the best lead off hitter in the game b/c of it.... I am glad that Pierre is performing well, but generally i just don't like the idea of paying part of a player's salary, especially when that player is pitching for our division rival. However, the Braves were not smart when they traded Millwood, and we haven't made any stupid moves like that. It's also good that Redman is doing great for us, which came as a bit of a surprise. I knew that Pudge was a good acquisition, being a future Hall-of-Famer. I wish that Spooney wasn't injured, though.

If something does happen, I think it will be right around the deadline. I think all these rumors are not going to happen and if something does, it will be something we least expected. That is usually how these things work. The Yankees are asking too much for Mondesi and I am sure the Reds were asking too much for Guillen. At this point, that is what they are supposed to do. You wait until the last minute to make a deal, and try and drum up the best deal possible. You have to start high and bid down - that is why I think we cant necessarily rule out Giles or even Klesko. I dont know if we will get them, but we could very well make a significant move like that. I dont want to see us take on White or Sanders and send Cabrera down though. If we are going to waste the time in making a trade, at least make it a significant upgrade - and that is what is dragging this thing on I believe. Besides, some of these teams have to just face they are sellers and not buyers. We are buyers, for the first time in 5 years... :w00t Perhaps, but my feeling is that we are VERY close to getting Rondell White.
