10 Worst Sports Movies of All-Time

Featured Replies

Hehe

1. Driven (2001) ? Presumably the job of a sports film screenwriter is to avoid the cliches of the subject, but no one told Sylvester Stallone that, as evidenced by this painfully hackneyed and false yarn about an over the hill Formula One race car driver (Stallone) who gets reeled back in to help a young, up-and-coming, but erratic driver.

2 and 3. American Anthem (1986) and Rad (1986) ? They won Olympic gold, but their movie debuts are pure plastic. Mitch Gaylord and Bart Connor, teammates on the tough, buff 1984 U.S. men's gymnastics team, each made gloriously bad sports movies in 1986. In Anthem, Gaylord plays a disaffected but talented gymnast trying to conquer his demons and go for the gold. Unfortunately, he can't conquer that part of acting where he has to talk. And as for Connor's turn as an evil BMX biker in Rad...what was that about? Oh, that's right. Capitalizing on their Olympic fame. 0.0s all around.

4. Rookie of the Year (1993) ? Boy breaks arms, and after cast is off he can throw 100 mph ? is signed by the Cubs. Unrealistic and full of cliches.

5. Rocky V (1990) ? No Mas!!!! Pointless film.

6. Caddyshack II (1988) ? No Murray, Dangerfield, Knight or laughs.

7. Any Given Sunday (1999) ? What was Pacino thinking?

8. Gus (1976) ? If we want to watch a funny mule, we'll call Donald O'Connor, thanks.

9. Major League II (1994) ? The original was good; they should have quit while they were ahead.

10. Days of Thunder (1990) ? Watching these idiots ram into each other as they race down the straightaway not worth the price of a small popcorn

Only a couple of changes I'd make here...

10. Days of Thunder (1990) ? Watching these idiots ram into each other as they race down the straightaway not worth the price of a small popcorn

I didn't think this was "top 10 bad" material. Tom Cruise hams it up as usual but you gotta love Robert Duval...

4. Rookie of the Year (1993) ? Boy breaks arms, and after cast is off he can throw 100 mph ? is signed by the Cubs. Unrealistic and full of cliches.

totally unrealistic. No Cubs deal ever works out.

I'll replace these two with:

4. Blue Chips (1994) - One of the worst movies I've ever seen. Stupid story, bad acting, not even good basketball game footage.

10. The Fan. I don't know how you get Robert DeNiro and Wesley Snipes and still have a crappy movie, but they did it.

10. The Fan. I don't know how you get Robert DeNiro and Wesley Snipes and still have a crappy movie, but they did it.

I don't think this was a bad movie...

ML 3 was a joke, I'm with Das...

I didn't think ML 2 was that bad of course it not The Original which is a classic.

I can see why they put Caddy Shack 2 up there but Chase is still great at what he does so I wouldn't put that on the list.

Also why did they put Rookie of THe Year on this list? It's a kid's movie! If that was the case this whole list would be filled with kids movies.

i like ML I & II, 3 sucked, but Rube is still pretty funny

i didnt mind The Fan or Days of Thunder either.....

hell, i liked Any Given Sunday too

where is all of the AIR BUD'S? those movies sucked

I'm a big fan of racing and sports movies but Driven has to be the absolute worst movie I've ever seen. I agree with 1-8 but I liked Major League II and Days of Thunder.

Major League II was ok.

Wesley Snipes wasn't there but the new guy did a good job.

It was pretty much the same as the 1st except instead of Tom Berenger having love problems it was Charlie Sheen.

Im sorry but the Fan was a good movie.........and ML2 wasnt that bad, ofcourse none of them can touch the first major league, but hey they tried. :tv_happy

The Fan was a great movie. I dont think Days of Thunder is top 10 material either.

And, granted I was like 8 years old when Rookie Of The Year was out, but I kinda liked it. So what if its not realistic. Thats what makes it a movie. If you want a movie on realistic stuff happening in baseball, just watch Sportscenter highlights.

And if you are gonna put Rookie of the Year on there, you HAVE to put Little Big League on there. Anyone remember that movie? The 10 year old kid becomes the owner/manager of the Twins and brings em to win the pennant. Talk about unrealistic.

And if you really want Unrealistic, try Angels in the Outfield.

Might Ducks I was good. Mighty Ducks II was ok. Might Ducks III sucked and should be on the list.

Ml 1 and Ml 2 were great movies!!!!!! f*** this Top 10 list

and Rookie the year was a great movie too!!!!!

neva seen ML 3.....

da 2 Flicks i replace this with is Rollerball and the babe

DRIVEN! (screams)

no....not ROLLERBALL the REMAKE!!!!!! AAAAHHH!!!

:p

Those movies both suck so badly...it's unbelievable. Rollerball killed off LL Cool J halfway through the movie, ridding itself of the only halfway decent character in it. They filmed an entire scene in NIGHT-VISION, for god's sake!

Driven couldn't have been worse if it tried.

Caddyshack is one of the greatest comedies of all time. I love it. I refuse to watch Caddyshack II though.
