  1. Putting the stadium anywhere besides downtown Miami would be a mistake. Miami most likely has the larger fan base, and I doubt they'll want to drive to Fort Lauderdale for the game. However, Ft. Lauderdale is probably safer than Miami, from what I've seen.

  3. Of course I know that the bullpen is the biggest need, but take a look at these bench batting numbers: Mike Redmond: .235, 0 HRs Ramon Castro: .294, 4 HRs Andy Fox: .214, 0 HRs Mike Mordecai: .205, 0 HRs Brian Banks: .223, 4 HR's Todd Hollandsworth: .254, 2 HRs How does this qualify as good? I think we could use maybe one more player, but I'm not saying it's a higher priority than the pen.
  4. Because everyone can admit that the team needs something to help them get to the playoffs, I figured that I'd list what I believe we could use. Feel free to add something, or tell me your opinion. 1. Setup man in the 'pen 2. Any decent relievers, especially cheap ones. 3. Another starting pitcher, to replace Carl Pavano. 4. Maybe a change at 1st base 5. A strong left-handed bat 6. Another bench player, because I figure we could add some depth there. 7. A left fielder, maybe... I'd also like to hear what players are available that we could get. I know a few, but maybe there are some I'm not thinking of.
  5. Yes, I think this topic has been well exhausted already, as evidenced by the Potential Lee/Conine Trade post that has like 200 replies already.
  6. Yes, I read this in the paper this morning, I thought it was pretty funny. Cote has a habit of writing those kinds of articles, along with LeBatard. However, both always seem to be constantly critical of the Marlins.
  7. I would maybe try to pry one of the Mets' relievers away from them, considering how bad they are, and willing to trade players.
  8. Those who live in hope, die in despair. The season is NOW. If the Marlins need to trade him to get us closer to our goal of making the playoffs, kiss him goodbye. Let's see if he can even make it in Zebulon before you lock him in as the "next hot rookie". He's so far away from the bigs he probably can't even spell "the show". We'd be better off trading Adrian Gonzalez, who was on the trade block several times, than Stokes.
  9. I believe that, with some time, our next Dontrelle Willis might be Jason Stokes, the power hitting first baseman in the minors. One magazine said that he is best compared to Mike Sweeney. Not too bad for a guy who hasn't played in the bigs yet. Let me know whether you think he'll be the next McGwire, or the next Derrek Lee.
  10. Here is a basic breakdown of how our bullpen is doing: Braden Looper: Better than most of our guys in the 'pen Tim Spooneybarger: Overworked, and on the DL for who knows how long Armando Almanza: Struggling greatly, one of our worst guys, needs a demotion Kevin Olsen: Out for some time after getting pegged in the head Toby Borland: Injured Tommy Phelps: Better than most of the others Michael Tejera: Just asking for a demotion to AAA Allen Levrault: Could be worse, but struggles like the rest Nate Bump: A rookie, too early to tell Vladimir Nunez: Has spent most of the season in AAA, after a horrendous start to the season. Blaine Neal: Although he's not on the team right now, wasn't much good with us earlier... As you can see, we need some help. Feel free to discuss the bullpen, and maybe propose some deals that could give our starters a hand.
  11. OK, as I figured, there is a majority feeling that Lowell is our MVP. It's pretty obvious, anyway.
  12. Thank god for not doing the Lowell for Beltre/Mota deal, that would have been a royal ripoff. Neither player is that good, and Lowell is having a career season, and might finish in the top 5 in the MVP voting if he keeps it up. He won't get past Pujols, though.
  13. I would recommend using Hollandsworth and Almanza as potential trade bait. Almanza might get some attention because he's a left hander, even though he sucks.
  14. MIKE MORDECAI! Seriously, I have NO idea.
  15. At the very least, we should pull the trigger on the Texas bullpen deal, if we could get Urbina and Powell. Urbina is an excellent reliever that could improve this awful bullpen greatly. Powell, the former Marlin, is probably better than Almanza right now anyway.
  16. We need a set up man meanwhile Spoon is out... I don't think McKeon's idea of putting rookie Nate Bump there is going to work. Our bullpen sucked so much for so long that we wore out Spooneybarger too fast.
  17. We could still use another starting pitcher, considering what happened to Pavano a week ago in Boston.
  18. We need to trade Hollandsworth and ge a solid Relief Pitcher in return because our bullpen really Sucks. Hollandsworth has been a real Bust and is aving a real bad year and we should do everything we could to trade him. He is just sitting on the bench doing nothing and we are paying him 1 Million for nothing. AMEN!!
  19. We almost lost the game on Saturday because of people like Tejera, nearly blowing the three run lead.
  20. Yeah, I noticed, a little late...but I agree, WE NEED BULLPEN HELP. I was at the Pro last Wednesday and watched Armando Almanza blow the game with a homer to RAFAEL FURCAL. It was awful to watch, considering the fact that he blew a nearly flawless performance by Willis.
  21. Whoops, my bad...should have read closer, sorry.
  22. What I meant about we need the power is that when Dye is healthy and playing well, he's hitting 20-25 jacks a season. However, he hasn't done much for the A's this year.
  23. Commercials have started airing for the All-Star Game on FOX, which is like 10 days away or so. At the end of the commercials, they say the following: "The All-Star Game On Fox. This year....it means something." Wow.
  24. That would be nice...we could use the power, but I doubt Billy Beane's that dumb.
