Miami Herald: OB is a lousy site for baseball
Even with a new stadium the team would need a new owner to flourish. To steal an apt phrase from a SoSH thread today, Quoted for Extreme Justice. *goes to buy his $325M Mega Millions ticket...*

Burgess: Downtown Too Expensive; Miami Talks to MLS
Those "on the quick and on the cheap" facilties are built by municipalities-- not teams. Tropicana Field comes to mind. :thumbup

Burgess: Downtown Too Expensive; Miami Talks to MLS
No way MLS will go for a dual-purpose stadium. Lately the prerequisite for an expansion franchise has been a commitment to build a soccer-specific stadium. Hell, they wouldn't let San Jose move to Houston and become the 1836 Dynamo without a commitment to build a brand-new soccer-specific stadium.

15 years ago today...
The miracle, even to this day 15 years later, is that only 23 souls were lost due to that storm. Jesus, that was a miracle. I think the destroyed house count was high-five-to-six-figures, and only 23 died? Then again, probably thousands more after wished they were dead, having to deal with that level of apocalypse. Cape, I'm assuming your parents had wished they had stayed in Key Largo? Andrew was not a very big storm. I was 12, I remember in Orlando we had neither a cloud nor a breeze.

Marlins @ Reds from that great American Ballpark 7:10pm
I'll work on Mr. Red... Whose payroll are you on? :thumbup As you see, I keep a statue of Fearless Leader with me on every job... I took Fredbird out yesterday, and the fish won....Now it's Mr. Red's last game.... I still say Mr. Met sweetened the pot for this one. Mr. Red is such a blatant copycat. :thumbup

Rumor: Fidel is Dead
OK, who's willing to stake their board rep on these so-called rumors? I'm supposed to be having dinner downtown tonight with my folks in celebration of their 35th or so wedding anniversary, but they don't want to come down here if there's going to be riots. Do any valued members of the board community have really reliable sources that are reporting this? Or are we all just having a little bit of fun here? No one here definitively says he's dead yet. We're reporting that rumors are driving the city wild, and engaging in a little wishful thinking.

Rumor: Fidel is Dead
If this is true, then it's gonna be bedlam in Miami. Good thing the Marlins aren't in town.

Bridge carrying I-35W over Miss Riiver collapses
just saw a thing on this on my aol main page...officials think that corrosive pigeon dung may be the culprit Anybody think maybe what really did it was putting eight lanes of traffic on a bridge designed to carry only four?

Marlins @ Reds from that great American Ballpark 7:10pm
Here's where D-Train gets back together. I also expect Miggy, Uggla and the Hammer to all hit balls into Kentucky. (It's doable. The Ohio River is considered entirely within Kentucky.) Anyone else notice that Pete Rose Way is actually on their football stadium now? I probably won't be here, as I am doing chain crew for a football game at the high school I work at. So... WIN!!!

All Star Game 2010
That's why we need to hurry up and get a deal done for the new stadium. There are no more excuses. The money gap is full, either by extra money from UM's move to DS, or by not having to buy land if you choose the OB. Git-r-done!

My vision: The Ballpark at the Orange Bowl
I know very little about South Florida mass transit, but from my experiences in other cities a shuttle bus system just to get to a metro line is highly impractical. And this looks to be a car traffic nightmare. If it works for UM games, it'll work for the Marlins.
