  1. Sanchez had Tommy John Surgery in May and will be out til mid-next year. They've sunk him all the way down to AA Carolina. That's where he'll begin rehabbing when he's cleared to go.
  2. The host said the Georgia team was "like the Florida Marlins" becasue they win it all every time they're in the tournament the other guy said something along the lines of "well, at least they don't sell off their team" painful. :banghead
  3. Could be worse: Could be a fan of the cubs, indians, or San Francisco Giants....remember: the Giants have NEVER won a World Series, since they moved to San Fran back in 54... The Giants can't be blamed on long periods of mediocrity. The Giants have been in the World Series three times and won seven divisions since moving to SF (we know that first-hand). The Indians have had good amounts of success, including two World Series appearances, since the Major League movies (we know that first-hand, too). The Cubs... well, they're cursed (we even know that first-hand). The Marlins can actually point to hard proof of blatantly negligent ownership. H. Wayne Huizenga (fire sale), John Henry (lying about profitability, then buying the Red Sox) and Jeffrey Loria (second fire sale, threats to move). PS: The Giants moved for the 1958 season. 54 was the last time they won the World Series, in Manhattan.
  4. The whole Cabrera-tardiness "fiasco" has been blown out of proportion by the local media, IMO. He made a mistake, he was benched, and he moved on. I think Cabrera has shown plenty of leadership qualities this season as well as last: being the first to congratulate teammates from the dugout, holding back Phillies and Marlins players in the benches-clearing brawl earlier this season, encouraging pitchers both on and off the field. He's matured a lot since 2005. Yea but these stories come about on a 7 game skid while falling into last place. Sensationalist journalism at its worst, when it's needed least. :thumbdown
  5. I hope nobody buys it. Somebody will. Not everybody hates Barry Bonds, you know. And no it won't set him for life, but he won't have to worry about money for some time. He couldn't sell it immediately. He was going to Australia the next day. He probably just got back. The little Mets fan with the Jose Reyes jersey Yeah mama, that's his own hair The little Mets fan has a record home run ball The little Mets fan is a millionaire
  6. The Giants need to give him run support, and not have such a sh*tty bullpen.
  7. When ESPN ranked the first 100 years of the World Series (1993-2002), they ranked 1997 #33. (Yeah, there weren't 100 World Series... they ranked the 1904 and 1994 non-years as #99 and #100, respectively, with 1919 as #98).
  8. It kinda saddens me the sorry state that our owners let this team get into, especially when we've got two rings. I remember 1997, and I can relive Game 7 because it's on Baseball's Best. And I really took part in 2003, having gone to two of the games (Game 4 NLDS, Game 5 NLCS), and watching the World Series closely that year. Why is it we can only do it right every six years? Can't we put it together and form a dynasty? The Marlins don't deserve it. We need to give Billy his smile back. at that last part
  9. Deal would have been done years ago if Loria negotiated in good faith. I thought it was the politicians who have done the most damage....how far as the Marlins stadium deal gotten, only for the politicians to kill it? And if you're going to blame management, I'd blame Samson more than Loria. And besides, John Henry couldn't get a stadium deal done either....isn't that why he left (or at least a major part of it)? Henry was offered the opportunity to buy the Red Sox as well. Own the Marlins....or Own the Red Sox? Gee, what a difficult decision! Specifically the state politicians. State money has died in the Legislature the past two consecutive years.
  10. An announcer being a homer really isn't a bad thing. Re: Michael Kay.
  11. The City of Miami crime statistics are misleading. That includes Liberty City and Overtown, and high poverty areas where the majority of crime occurs in Miami. People are afraid of things they dont know. I bet there is more crime around DS than the Orange Bowl (someone check crime by Zip Code). Regarding parking, the OB has been serving up to 70,000 people for decades. Why would it be such a problem to serve 30,000 for baseball? Downtown is better but from a real estate perspective this (OB) is a good place to be. Why couldn't we keep a good team for once? I miss over 67,000 singing "We Are The Champions". Ya but tearing down the OB and putting a baseball stadium may create enough room to make a parking lot around the stadium. Think of all the money the Marlins would make with there own parking lot like Huizenga does at DS. Not only will we get money for our own parking, but we will get money for our own luxury suites as well. Where does the money for Marlins suites at DS go right now? You guessed it. Most of it lines the pockets of one H. Wayne Huizenga. :killthemall I really dont care where they build the stadium as long as they do. But why do people keep on with the crime thing a the OB? Did the UM ever mention it as a reason for leaving the OB? The Dolphins before them? They would know. Never once. The Dolphins left because their owner, Joe Robbie, built them a new stadium with 100% private funds. They wanted (and then, arguably, deserved) a new stadium, and he built it.
  12. FLASH! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!! Saviour of the universe! This made me lol more than the picture. :thumbup
  13. Nonononono, you have to deface a "Reverse Curve" sign.
  14. "This opens up a new path." -Manny Diaz Manny Diaz confirms he intends to use the $88M in OB renovation money towards a ballpark. He said the city has to go back to the drawing board to adjust some of the numbers from the Spring 2007 plan. But he expects things to start moving again fairly soon. MLB is no longer debating downtown. It's OB or bust. Now honestly, is this REALLY that surprising?
  15. Why Hanley Ramirez is not yet the NL MVP.
  16. Not far enough this time. Siddown, Albert. :thumbup
  17. Strikeout. But how do you double-up when there's already 2 outs?
  18. TOP EIGHTH: Uggla pops out. 1 down. :bases_empty EDIT: Hermida whiffs. 2 down. :bases_empty EDIT: Treanor up the middle! 1 on, 2 down. :bases_firstbase
  19. Hey now, hey now Don't dream, it's over
  20. I'm going to go insane if I don't seriously get FSN this year. I need food, air, water, and Marlins to live, and I only have 3 of those. MLB.TV? I love it frankly, use it to watch the Stros. My comp is connected to my TV so I watch it like I watch any other game. Gainesville is blacked out. In other words, I'm f***ed. Satellite time.
  21. TOP SEVENTH: Willingham goes down too. :mad 1 on, 2 down. :bases_firstbase EDIT: Hit and run ends it. :mad
