  1. I love Minute Maid, so I put it in there. The Ballpark at Marlington. At last, someone other than me is taking Live Local and using it to splice together crappy artist renditions! Yay creativity!!! :thumbup chase field would be a horrible design - since it's closed up so much it's designed to be primarily a dome where they can keep the sun out and AC up - there is little natural light in there - even when the roof is open they also open up a couple panels behind the outfield - really no sightlines though i think a design like safeco could work as it can shelter from the rain while still providing a great view and open air environment Something would have to meet half-way between the two, like Chase Field's general design with the ability to lower the seaward wall so that it would give the crowd the skyline view. Safeco is really open because Seattle just doesn't get hot all that often, so they have the dome semi-open so they can provide rain cover without requiring a/c.
  2. CT, please tell me you actually know Dutch and aren't just pulling this out of your ass. WIN!!! it's called freetranslation.com so I give it about 90% certainty I was gonna say, because it looks like it used a totally different acronym for ERA over last time.

  4. I've come up with a third idea, this time based on Chase Field.
  5. Deal would have been done years ago if Loria negotiated in good faith. I thought it was the politicians who have done the most damage....how far as the Marlins stadium deal gotten, only for the politicians to kill it? And if you're going to blame management, I'd blame Samson more than Loria. And besides, John Henry couldn't get a stadium deal done either....isn't that why he left (or at least a major part of it)? Henry was offered the opportunity to buy the Red Sox as well. Own the Marlins....or Own the Red Sox? Gee, what a difficult decision! Specifically the state politicians. State money has died in the Legislature the past two consecutive years. try like the last six years or so maybe even more I'm referring to the last two specifically, since it passed in one chamber and died due to the session ending before it was taken up in the other. I remember those vividly.
  6. This season is a lost season. Let's go for the best draft pick possible. Sit back and enjoy the riducliously poor play, while enjoying the offensive numbers Hanley and Miguel put up. The drive for 2 is on! Texan, you do know your hit counter for Biggio is out-of-date, right? He's at 3,038. He's 22nd, between Rod Carew (3,053) and Lou Brock (3,023). And I'll be damned... he IS the active hits leader. :thumbup
  7. This season is a lost season. Let's go for the best draft pick possible. Sit back and enjoy the riducliously poor play, while enjoying the offensive numbers Hanley and Miguel put up. The drive for 2 is on! In baseball being a high draft pick is not an indicator of success, no matter the excellence of the scouting program...Anyone remember Brian Taylor? It's not the relative slam dunk of drafting high in football and basketball.
  8. I was originally going to go to both games of the double header (it was a true double header in that you only had to pay for one game), but I didn't because it's been cold and rainy here all day and I just don't like the Orioles that much. Kinda wish I'd gone now. YOU ARE SO STUUUUUU-PUDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbup
  9. Damn, Hermida! Can't we do this more often? EDIT: MLB.com headline: Thirty little secret. :thumbup
  10. You know, not too long ago, I was watching a segment on Baseball Tonight on "Memorable Game Six Moments of the World Series" and Beckett's shutout was not even mentioned! But, then again, who is surprised? Those tools on ESPN are morons. Especially that fat f***er John Kruk. My first Marlins game was back in 95 or 96. They were playing the Giants. Bonds was about 150 pounds or so. He really hit the gym this this past decade, eh? As for glorious Marlins moments, I was there for Game 3 and 4 of the NLDS in 2003. The Giants went ahead, and half of the stadium emptied out. Then, Pudge came up and we had that little rally. That was awesome. We need more moments like that. That had to have been Game 3. I was at Game 4, and it was hoppin' all night long. It would have been a rout if D-Train didn't leg out that triple.
  11. I just noticed that Pujols shaved.
  12. Jack Buck. How can such a great announcer spawn such a tool? Skill sometimes skips generations. :thumbup
  13. TOP FOURTH: Olsen with the double. 1 on, 1 down. :bases_secondbase EDIT: Tough out for Hanley. 1 on, 2 down. :bases_secondbase
  14. Guys, it's not the end of the world. :gofish
  15. The Rangers are on their EIGHTH time around!!!
  16. Anybody have any idea what the single-team single-game run record is? It's 30-3 Texas now. I bet RangerBaseball.com is blowing up right now. :thumbup
  17. 26-3 and still threatening.
  18. Texas is up 24-3. And they still have an inning left.
  19. A second try, looking at the field facing downtown and the roof opening from the other side. Third base line can see downtown. First base line can see airplanes approaching MIA. :thumbup
  20. I decided to actually plant a stadium in place of the Orange Bowl at as close to the same scale as possible, and discovered it can be done in roughly the same footprint as the OB. I present to you... MARLIN STADIUM. Also, an unroofed stadium of the dimension of Kauffman Stadium fits nicely too. That is one sexy ballpark....except it has no skyline view. So swap the roof so the roof opens to the west instead of the east. This doesn't have to be exactly what it looks like. I'm just demonstrating that a ballpark can fit in the footprint of the OB with little to no parking loss. What an ugly surrounding area.Thats about as low class as you can get :confused A new stadium will spur urban renewal in Little Havana. I agree with FreshFish. Where's your vision?
  21. If I were in charge of developing the site, the stadium would go on the corner of 3rd and 16th (renamed Conine and McKeon Way :mischief ) with parking, possibly condos, and greenspace mixed throughout the rest of property. The roof would open to the leftfield side (parking under that) so you could have a view of the skyline to the east. Corrected. :thumbup

  23. We can win this game. :pray
  24. He did not have Tommy John surgery. He had rotator cuff surgery. Ouch, even worse. :confused
