I would say it was apparent that Beinfest had his hands tied. Most GMs aren't forced to operate on a $20 million payroll. He made a few stupid trades, but I assume during those darkest years of salary, most GMs could easily take advantage of him.

I think it was last year when I said trade everyone but Jose (and made a note of "even Stanton") because of exactly what you're saying. It's like the Panthers circa 2008 with Jokinen atop the team. It was a built-for-now team with absolutely zero chance of winning a cup (much less making the playoffs).

TBH Erick, I don't get the point of the thread. Maybe it's because I haven't been involved from the get-go (hard to follow games starting past midnight), but this team on paper was pretty mediocre at best. At best, that is. Reality is, they're total garbage. I think the warm start sort of fooled people.
