Stanton traded to Yankees for Castro, Guzman and Devers
Yeah when I read that I read it as Derek's Jeter's regime learning slowly that what information they share impacts their business operations. Something that most of us could've figured out without having to learn the hard way.

Stanton traded to Yankees for Castro, Guzman and Devers
Imagine the Yankees with Stanton and Judge. Imagine how much more of PE#1 Jeter becomes if he trades Stanton to the Yankees for a bad return.

David Samson confused by Jeter so far...
I love the internet "reading comprehension" line. One admittedly I have used in the past. If he ain't gettin it, LEARN TA READ YA HEAR ME. Samson should go pursue his suitcase ambitions or whatever that fucker does.

So.....
Do I miss Loria? Why would I miss Loria? You mean the guy who took a championship team, wiped his ass with it, tried to move the team, and made us suffer for 14 years being the laughing stock of baseball? At least this new regime is... new.

Stanton traded to Yankees for Castro, Guzman and Devers
Bruh, revokable waivers = if a team claims him, Miami can withdraw the waiving. You have to be aware that if a team wanted to claim Stanton, they'd probably have called Miami and asked if they could. If Miami said no, and they tried to, it would be an unnecessary burning of bridges. Miami waived him in order to make him trade eligible. End of. He WAS NOT available for free. As I've stated, I'm well aware that he has a severely diminished value for various reasons. But to think he could be had for free is as silly as thinking he's going to draw a whole farm system of marquis prospects.

Aaron Boone named Yankees' manager
Not the only former Yankee to get a big job with no experience.

Stanton traded to Yankees for Castro, Guzman and Devers
Bruh. He was on revokable waivers. I can't believe people are still thinking that he wasn't "claimed."

Yeah right, someone's willing to take Giancarlo Stanton for free! ?

Jeter's Payroll Trimming Plan? Trade Stanton, Gordon, and Prado
I already think I'm in this group, but I think a lot of it is from leftover disaffection and distrust of ownership. The *only* thing I can think of that Jeter has done worthy of any "trust" is maybe... No I can't think of anything Jeter has done to show me a positive sign whatsoever.

Fox Sports dumps Waltz, Preston, Conine
This stings. I watch mediocre teams play in South Florida. The two most mediocre teams, the Marlins and Panthers, have had phenomenal PBP guys through my history watching them. With the Panthers, Dave Strader was the best PBP guy in hockey (RIP). Steve Goldstein is still easily top-5, even if not as good. Waltz, in general (pretty sure he does some NCAABB after baseball) is a great PBP guy. To be honest, he's going to find something better than the Marlins to do with his career. This being said, I sincerely hope they tear this team down in every aspect possible. Burn FSN to the ground. Burn the jerseys. Burn the HR sculpture in the outfield. Sell every single player. Yelich, Ozuna, Realmuto. All of them. If they're going to rebuild and destroy every living trace of this team's history, ffs just do it. No half assing.

Stanton traded to Yankees for Castro, Guzman and Devers
I know you know, but my point is just that so often people cite that "big amount" as a big deal. His $300 million has little meaning in terms of affordability. The only thing of relevance of that number is a value per cost later in his career, and a risk assumed by carrying it every year.

Stanton traded to Yankees for Castro, Guzman and Devers
It's a bit broad to suggest teams can't afford a player by the size of his contract. Think you should focus more on the time derivative. They can afford him, they just spent too much on dumb shit and he's an easy way out of it.

Rob Manfred: Marlins fans shouldn't be upset if Giancarlo Stanton dealt
I fully understand what he meant. Still, his message falls flat. Why is he addressing the fans? We have every right to be angry with new ownership for "difficult decisions." Judging the way the last decade and change has gone, we have a right to be angry until the day new ownership delivers. As far as I'm concerned, new ownership hasn't shown me they know what they're doing, and they sure as hell haven't shown any acknowledgement for the fans or players.

Blah blah blah I'm Robert Manfred and I tell fans how they should feel. Fuck off.

Stanton named MVP
Lmao it's funny to look at how every single one of these guys who have their team present rig it so their guy gets 1st and the likely winners get 4-6. So dishonest.

New York Post "translates" all of Jeter's comments today
If @el penguino and I aren't fighting, you're wrong.

New York Post "translates" all of Jeter's comments today
Maybe you haven't been paying attention, but it sure sounds like they don't want to do it in full.

New York Post "translates" all of Jeter's comments today
I haven't seen anyone here who is complaining about rebuilding. Most are complaining about the crap way they want to do it.

Stanton traded to Yankees for Castro, Guzman and Devers
Oh. Well. Idk even better. 90 is 90. I'd rather trust this team rebuilding against his will than trying to force a competitive team next season that obviously won't happen.
-
Stanton traded to Yankees for Castro, Guzman and Devers
What year is it? Whatever, something like that. Hold him for two years. What's the point in making him happy by trading him for nothing if you can just keep him arbitrarily for two more years. 90 is 90 in all cases... this team won't be competitive with or without Stanton. Certainly not without him.

Stanton traded to Yankees for Castro, Guzman and Devers
Ffs if they want to dump his salary it's really easy... just keep him in Miami next season and let him walk if he damn wants to. Why the fuck would you give him up for nothing? He's MVP material. Get to the 90 million with his contract. After next season you'll be far below 90 million when he walks away.

Scott Boras rips Jeter's plan
That's not the point. The point is why the fuck did Jeter and Sherman buy the team if they automatically handcuffed themselves because they don't have enough money to take losses? It limits how they can approach the problem. It also suggests they might just be Lorias reincarnated.

I mean... he's not wrong.

True but with jock taxes from publicized salaries, the taxation is hardly as much of a massive difference as everyone pretends it is. The Marlins still play in NYC/Philly/DC about 30x a year and are subject to similar taxes. Of course, different than playing in SF/LA/SD 110x a year. As a pure ratio of the salaries though, if these cities/states were to tack on 15% of his overall salary (excuse the pen and paper approximations) you're talking about some $25-30 million in taxes playing for SF versus some $3-5 million in taxes playing for Miami (on $250 million). The real question is, if playing for a team like SF, is he in a market that can turn $22-30 million more in endorsements over his contract? Probably. Most definitely. Of course, I've made a lot of simplifications... but I think the income thing is vastly overrated. It's useful for small contracts and little names. People like Stanton have their agent pulling all sorts of estimations balancing the true earning power in different markets.

Probably would keep him and let him decide if he wants to walk next year after they deconstruct the team around him.
