  1. Brewers defeat the Marlins 9-6. West: 4.1 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 SO HR: Cantu (9), Uggla (11)
  2. Hermida's path right now is headed to becoming a backup. The evidence is right in front of you. He K's more than 1/4 of the time. Ross is our 3rd best hitter behind Ramirez and Cantu. HeUglla is easily 1st or 2nd best defensively. That makes him one of our top 2 overall players. Cody Ross is not our 3rd best hitter. Besides being ridiculously streaky, he's both a low batting average and a low OBP guy, both of which are lower than Senor Garbage, Jeremy Hermida (I'll get back to him). Yeah, when he's in CF he's easily the best defensive player in our lineup, but he's been pretty bad in RF, which is where he's been playing most of this year. Also, love how you say that I must be calling Hermida not garbage because of 3 games, yet you are calling Cody Ross our 3rd best hitter. Fantastic. Also, Hermida, despite having the second most Ks on the team, still has the second best OBP on the team, behind some dude named Hanley. Also second on the team in walks. He's hardly on the road to "being a backup". It's at least debatable that Ross is our third best hitter. It's not as cut and dry as you are making it out to sound. Who is the third best if not Ross? Uggla and Baker, maybe Hermida. I really can't see the debate on how Cody is a better hitter than Uggla. (And yes, I know Uggla has been pretty damn bad this year, I'm trying to hit it on a whole.(that's what she said)) Wow, just wow. You really don't have any concept of talent do you? You come here and laugh and now you are backpedling faster than crazy and trying to come up with another Marlin who's a better hitter than Ross! lol Uggla is not a better hitter than Ross. Ross could be a .300 hitter if he wasn't streaky. If the game was on the line, I'd rather have Ross up than Uggla or Baker. Look, Uggla is a hacker. Not a hitter. He is declining and we should trade him ASAP. Baker, I like the guy, will wear down as the season goes. Like scouts say, he will end up a career .250 guy with a few walks. Hardly better than Ross. But the fact is, Cody is a streaky hitter, and not one of the top three hitters on this team. Uggla is a much better hitter, and the facts prove it. It doesn't matter who you would rather have if the game was on the line, it's about who is the better overall hitter. Uggla is not declining yet. He's still in his prime, and trading him now would completely defeat the purpose of the buy low/sell high strategy. Then you say that Baker is hardly better than Ross, but Ross is better? Which one is it?
  3. Heh, you're funny. I still don't know if even you know what you're talking about about how I'm constantly wrong. My response to you wasn't about the lineup, which I constantly argue against, it was "Hermida is garbage" and "Cody Ross is our second best player." Hermida's path right now is headed to becoming a backup. The evidence is right in front of you. He K's more than 1/4 of the time. Ross is our 3rd best hitter behind Ramirez and Cantu. He is easily 1st or 2nd best defensively. That makes him one of our top 2 overall players. Since when is Uggla not a top three hitter?
  4. If Uggla and Hermida switched spots, we would have had three LHBs in a row. Not Fredi-like.
  5. Just a thought, but it might be interesting to see if there is an overall downswing in ALL cable tv ratings thanks to the economy -- with people perhaps dropping cable all together to save money. I actually wouldnt be surprised if the numbers rise, due to the people who dont want to spend money on tickets and would rather stay home and watch the games on TV.
  6. Doesn't look like this syetem takes a player's position into account, just pure numbers.
  7. I thought the Miami TV market was bigger than Tampa's but looking at those numbers I guess Tampa's is bigger. Where does it say that Tampa Bay is bigger? The percentages show that the Tampa Bay market is bigger. The ratings percentages are higher for the Marlins by a good amount, but the total viewers for the Rays is almost equal to the total amount of Marlin viewers.
  8. Marlins defeat the Brewers 10-3. Sanchez: 3 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 3 SO HR: Uggla (10), Ross (8) SB: Bonifacio (10)
  9. hey couple quick questions guys. for super saturday can you go down on the field for the concert? Also which seats would be better a little past 1st base or the fish tank? can you see the action from the outfield? thanks I'm not sure how to do it, but there are usually quite a few people who go on the field for concerts. If you're going on a Saturday and looking for cheaper seats, I would say the upper deck would be your best option. how much are those usually do you know? Not sure of the exact price, but you're getting the best value for your money sitting there.

  11. 40 pitches and not one run, wow.
  12. They need to realize that the coaches aren't the problem.
  13. Marlins defeat the Brewers 7-4. Miller: 4.1 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 4 BB, 4 SO Save: Lindstrom 2B: Ramirez (17)
  14. Even if they did lower the ticket prices, I doubt someone would suddenly want to go to the Marlins game because tickets are 2 or 3 dollars cheaper. It woulnd't get many more fans to come to the games, if any.
  15. Mets defeat the Marlins 3-2. Volstad: 7 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO 2B: Ramirez (16), Uggla (9)
  16. Marlins defeat the Mets 7-3. Johnson: 7 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 SO Save: Nunez 2B: Bonifacio (4)(5), Cantu (10), Hermida (6), Paulino (3), Carroll (1) HR: Hermida (5)
  17. He sucks. *The exact quote of some people here if he were a Marlin.
  18. Mets defeat the Marlins 2-1. West: 7 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 SO 2B: Cantu (9) 3B: Coghlan (1) SB: Ross (2)
  19. Fish Dynasty, I disagree with you. Uggla is not in his prime anymore. He has peaked. Who cares about his age...he has digressed a full season now. He's a hacker who costs too much money and will not be here in the future so it's time to trade him now while his value has anything left. It's appartent to everyone now that Hermida is not in this team's long term plans. We have Maybin, Stanton, and Morrison. Uggla still has around 2-3 years before he starts majorly declining. He hasn't yet. I agree with you, I don't think Uggla is part part of the Marlin's future, which most people here would agree with, but he still has some value left.
  20. John Baker is a #8 hitter on a championship team- not a number 6 hitter. Am I giving up on the season? NO! Look at this game! OUR OFFENSE SUCKS! Wake up...it's 1-0 with West pitching a gem. A) Bonifacio CAN NOT hit. He would be a .180-.190 hitter if not for speed. He's a bench player. B) Hermida is NOT in our future. Throw out all the OPS (overrated stat) numbers you want. Hermida has only 18 RBIs and only 4 homers. HE IS A DISAPPOINTMENT.....again! So OPS is an overrated stat, yet RBIs is not. How is that?
  21. No sarcasm here. Trade Uggla ASAP while he has ANY value left at all. Uggla probably will never hit over .250 again. He hasn't been good since last all star break. One could argue that Coghlan ALREADY has better ABs than Uggla. Hermida will never develop into the player they thought he would. He's tentative on defense and he's going to be a career .270 hitter and 4th outfielder like Mark Kotsay. We might as well bring the stopgap up Raynor until Stanton is ready. Uggla is still in his prime, and is more likely than not to hit .250 this season. Average doesn't matter that much though, as long as he keeps putting up an OPS in the .800s. No one is arguing that Coghlan is having better swings than Uggla right now, nor should they. Hermida might not develop into the all-star that many of us thought he would, but he's still only 25 years old, and can be a solid outfielder for years to come. Saying that he can only be a 4th outfielder at best is a big stretch.
  22. Clint Hurdle, who managed the Colorado Rockies to the 2007 World Series but finds his current club mired in last place in its division, will be fired on Friday, The Denver Post is reporting. The Post, citing a major league source, reported that the Rockies will make the change after discussing Hurdle's job status on Thursday's off-day. The Rockies are 18-28 in the NL West and have won only seven of 20 home games. The Post reported that bench coach Jim Tracy likely will be Hurdle's replacement. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4215575
