We need to move Jacobs and Willingham in the off season and acquire a legitimate 3B if none of the youngsters look to pan out. personally i think one of them needs to be moved this season for a catcher during the waiver wire. the other should be moved to get a legitamate leftfielder that isn't as slow as a turtle...cough....cough....willingham. i think that mcpherson has a really good chance of being a good third baseman, i hope the marlins give the guy a chance.

cantu is definately the fish of the month. not to mention there are so many phrases we can use with his name. the one i use all the time is the "marlins cantu win". Rabbetthan used a really good one too with "can he hit? he cantu?". the only thing i hate is when one of the guys on Baseball Tonight calls him Utnac.

jacobs has been given a long enough time to prove himselft. he needs to be traded to get help behind the plate and we need to see what mcpherson can do before he becomes a free agent. jacobs for ramon hernandez and jim johnson i think would be a steal for the marlins at this point. then move cantu to 1st where he is better defensively and call up mcpherson to play 3rd.

i think that everyone is staying except 5 players. rhodes and gonzalez are going because they're too old. hendrickson isn't resigned because........well he sucks. and i think that jacobs is traded this season for a catcher and willingham is moved to 1st. finally mcpherson is let go because with willingham at 1st and cantu at 3rd there really is no place on the team for him.

i'd feel better about our current team if we had a reliable veteran pitcher. i'd love to get vicente padilla but he makes too much money and the rangers probably aren't trading him. hopefully volstad continues to pitch well and anibal and jj continue to be good after their injuries. i got to say we have a pretty good starting rotation with anibal, olsen, jj, nolasco, and volstad. the only person i'm really worried about is nolasco because i think he's been pitching over his head and i don't think he can keep it up.

the media is always giving credit to the mets and phillies. we'd be lucky to hear the marlins being mentioned on ESPN, even when we were in first.

here are the catchers i think are available but i wouldn't want: Lo Duca - really don't want him. he can't catch or hit anymore so he's useless Estrada - veteran catcher that can handle the pitchers but he's been injured too much this season Olivo - hell no after all the past balls he's had with the marlins Yorvit - i think he got credit too much last season for the rockies pitching staff and i don't think the marlins want him unless the rockies pay most of his salary Josh Bard - he's a switch hitter but the padres are asking too much for him here are the catchers that are available that i wouldn't mind getting: ramon hernandez - always been good defensively and he's hitting this year so that's and up and if the o's would pay some of his salary i'd take him bengie molina - hits and catches, all that needs to be said. the low number of K's is definately a change compared to the rest of our players who either hit a homerun or strike out greg zaun - a switch hitter but is getting up in age and at this stage of his career is more of a backup Laird - young and can hit, fits perfectly on our team, but the rangers want someone of ryan tucker's quality in return and the marlins aren't willing to give him up

we need to either call up mcpherson or trade him. he signed a one year deal so he's gone after this season. if he spends the whole time in the minors it's just a waste of money. if we trade jacobs for a catcher we should move cantu to 1st and bring up mcpherson to play 3rd.

i'm glad we got anibal and JJ back. they'll solidify our pitching but i'm worried about olsen and volstad staying consistant. hopefully we'll keep miller in the minors after he recovers from his injury.
