I'm sorry man I guess we don't feel the same way. I would never just stop wanting to win because the guy was pitching a perfect game in the eighth and I don't feel that anyone with any true competitive spirit would either. It has nothing to do with competitive spirit. Yeah, the team is going to try to get that hit. But in terms of a game... which will you remember watching... the one hitter where we got a bloop hit in the 8th inning, or the perfect game where the pitcher just made history. But, I'm glad you know what "true" competitive spirit is. It's not about not wanting to win, it's about witnessing history and the context of the game makes that history all the more vivid. I understand the history aspect, but what I'd rather win that game to give our team a better chance of getting into the playoffs and making history, instead of hoping we lose so an opposing pitcher can make history and we miss the playoffs by one game. Chances are, if you missed the playoffs by one game, you never really "deserved" to go see: Mets, New York What? Obviously you didn't deserve to go if you didn't lead your division or win the wild card...but if you had won that game and won the division or wild card then of course you deserve to go...I fail to see your logic.

So let me get this straight. A guy has a perfect game in the 7th or something, and we're down by three. You're not rooting for a comeback by the marlins, you're rooting for a perfect game by the opposing pitcher Baseball is unlike any sport in that history tends to take precedence. In the 7th inning of a could-be perfect game, of course you should want your team to win, but by like, the 8th... you should be at the point where you think "Ok, well, we've been no-hit so far... might as well just get it over with" and by the 9th, you should simply be excited just to see history happen... See, losing in a game where you only score one run and have a couple hits is just another loss... losing a one hitter is just getting beat... but at least a no-hitter/perfect game made the game worth watching, moreso than any other loss. i saw the game live on thursday, and i didn't like it. i admit, i wanted that perfect game broken up all the way to the last out, and i was a bit frustrated when it happened, but i tip my cap to a great game pitched by mr. buehrle. Just leave. Now. Forever. This is a historical performance. I don't care who it is, if someone's throwing a perfect game, I want them to have it, even if it was Santana or Hamels pitching against the Marlins. Whoah against the marlins?? He's as close to a can't miss prospect as there is! Much like Miguel Cabrera he's a head of the game at his age, and is projected to put up Cabrera like numbers... You do know who Miguel Cabrera is right? :confused Yes I know about the marlins, but not so much about their AA and AAA affiliates... I spend my time watching the pros, not the minor leaguers.
