7/25 Post Game

That sucked. I hate Pinto so much. We need to go out and win tomorrow. A series win against the Dodgers in their stadium would be huge.

Nothing you can do there he hit it to no mans land.

Pinto for f*** up of the game for blowing the lead.

Good Job tonight by RVH, Kiko and Sanches.

We need to get the win tomorrow.

Very frustrating way to lose a game.

Ayala had a tough task and almost got it done.

I feel good about our chances tommorow with Volstad on the mound.

I didn't catch the game until the 8th; how did RVH look? His stat line is at least far from the previous "I should be in Jupiter not MLB" RVH but

3 walks in 5 innings and throwing a strike only 59% of the time is a far cry from his last start

His velocity was down, and he was a bit fortunate at times, but he manage to go 5 innings, and I think he could've started the 6th at 92 pitches, but whatever. He still had nice movement on the fastball, and stuff.

Ugly way to lose, Ayala looked pretty good out there though.

L- Pinto (if baseball were fair, instead he gets a hold)

Donnelly and Ayala are just further proof that we don't need to trade for some stupid named pitcher. Throwing sh*t against the wall, see what sticks. We've been building competent bullpens since '07 with this method.

I mean, yes, the first month-2 sucks as you see what sticks. But when you have resources we do, we don't have the benefit of being the Red Soxs and signing everybody.

Is ther any chance Pinto gets kicked of the bus on the way back to the hotel? In the 'hood? :devil

Even when you sign everyone some of them end up sucking and you're on the hook for the contract. But the Red Sox somehow have the luxury of being able to go out and trade for any player that they want. Its sickening just how easy them seem to be able to acquire players.

The thing I just couldn't stand the most was this offseason

Smoltz: 5.5m/1y (another 5.5m for days on roster for 11m total)

Penny: 5m/1y (another 2m in performance bonus)

Saito: 1.5m/1y (with 6m in bonuses, and club option to pay him the amount he makes this year including bonuses)

3 guys who are f***ing awesome when healthy but had injuries. Their guys where if we sign just one of them to a contract like that, we're f***ed if they don't stay healthy. For Boston, all 3 doesn't work out, oh well, no skin off their nose.

Saito took a step back but is still an above average reliever, Penny had a bad first month but a 3.92 ERA since, and Smoltz only recently came back and has struggled.

Oh and they then go and trade scrap heaps for a guy with a career OPS north of 900 post ASB, but nobody else really would touch because it's 7m and if he doesn't replicate that he's not very good. BUT OH HEY, WE'RE BOSTON, IF HE DOESN'T WORK OUT WE HAVE MIKE LOWELL AND KEVIN YOUKILIS AND BIG PAPI AND LARS ANDERSON AND CHRIS CARTER IN THE MINORS

They're "see if sh*t sticks to the wall" is signing the best with question marks where as our is signing guys off the trash heap. If you're just entering baseball fandom and looking for a team I don't know how you don't choose the Red Soxs.

When Lindstrom comes back, can we please send Pinto down?

Pinto really hasn't been that bad this month. Actually, pretty good. Just a bad outing for him. And as we all know, when he has a bad outing it can be very bad. He's not going anywhere.

We went 2-6 with RISP. 11 K's. Uggla looked completely lost at the plate and Hanley even contributed 3 Ks. Whatever happened to Hanleywood??? I really expected more from him this series. Bottom line is that we had the opportunities and the offense let us down. Again.

Good news is that it wasn't Martin being the hero in this game. That comment about giving us the game and us not earning it Friday night was way out of line and very incorrect. We could/should have put up around 10 runs that game if not for a lackluster offense when it was needed.

If Vandenhurk manages to go more than 5 innings we wouldn't have needed Pinto.

Just saying...

and I'm probably playing the result here but in the 9th (and Ayala did get Blake to hit a little bloop so he can't really be faulted) once Ayala got 2 strikes on Ethier I think you go ahead & go after him. I understand wanting to walk Ethier because he was on fire, but it wasn't 1st base open there, it was 3rd base. And seems like you're putting too many things in play by doing that. Wild pitch or passed ball loses the game. Fielding misplay loses the game. Heck, even something like Blake's bloop might not score a guy from 2nd.

Eh anyway, get 'em tonight.

I didn't expect us to win this one anyway.

I just felt it.

i f***ing hate people with this attitude. who cares if you didnt expect us to win this one? we still should have won it if it werent for f***ing pinto imploding. its games like these that you look back on at the end of the year and say we should have won

I know Meyer gave up two hits but I probably would have IBB Manny and have Meyer go after Ethier (Ethier against LHP: .718 OPS, Casey Blake against RHP: .763 OPS) but was fine with what Fredi did.

Also Bloops really like scores from second. Furcal was at second, and he'd have been going on contact.

I can understand why you wouldn't do it as you're bringing up but I was fine with it, not just because of Ethier's hotness but because he crushes RHP to a 900 OPS.
