Why the hell would you bring in Paulino who's your only backup catcher in the 9th inning and not put your best defensive outfielder in?

 

Carroll may have not made the catch but he would have made it a lot closer then Hermida did and would have probably gone all out with a dive.

I don't know if Carroll makes the catch, but bringing in Carroll makes more sense than bringing in Ronny Paulino. Not only is Paulino horrible defensively, but at the point...if the game went on, we had no true catcher left.

Pinto really hasn't been that bad this month. Actually, pretty good. Just a bad outing for him. And as we all know, when he has a bad outing it can be very bad. He's not going anywhere.

 

We went 2-6 with RISP. 11 K's. Uggla looked completely lost at the plate and Hanley even contributed 3 Ks. Whatever happened to Hanleywood??? I really expected more from him this series. Bottom line is that we had the opportunities and the offense let us down. Again.

 

Good news is that it wasn't Martin being the hero in this game. That comment about giving us the game and us not earning it Friday night was way out of line and very incorrect. We could/should have put up around 10 runs that game if not for a lackluster offense when it was needed.

I didn't really think much afterwords until that ball dropped and you see Hermida pretty much jogging after that bloop hit (as Hermida does with almost every ball hit into the outfield, as seen in the first inning with Furcal).

You rather he do what BC did twice the night before, run straight at it and then watch it rattle around the curve in the wall so that he'd have to run after it? The problem Hermida did there was his throw went too far to the right, missing Uggla, but he fielded that ball well.

I see his strong arm all the time, I don't know about you. The accuracy, though, has left something to be desired. That's what happened last night, the throw was strong, but it completely missed Uggla.

And it's both Rab, he could've gone to the ball and saved at least a second after it hit the wall. Instead he waited for the ball to come EXACTLY where he was standing. If he would've moved up against the wall to get it after the bounce, and got himself into position to make the throw, it would've been a double.

Srsly, of all the things of Hermida's defense to be questioned, I never thought I'd see his arm questioned.

This loss hurt. I was actually lucky enough to watch this game from a bowling alley, but I caught it at the 8th inning.

I was pumped when Manny struck out but then after that it did not look good. It hurt, but you know what? I felt slightly good after, knowing at least they were close. It wasn't a blowout and they got some hits and runs across (not that much, but heey). That confident feeling ended up doing me good, because we all know how the game ended up today!

Gotta agree with Rab here. And also that it's his accuracy that is the problem. I stll talk about that strike BC threw to 3B from the berm wall in Jupiter this ST vs the Tigers. Only a couple guys in baseball could make that throw. It's unfair to compare Jeremy with that.
