Featured Replies

so far in both the no hitter and perfect game there was a ball hit really hard and center fielder made a great play. the crowd was nuts the 9th inning that was one of the loudest crowds i have ever heard

Wow!!!

Congrats to Mark Burlehe.

He's taking Wise and his whole family to an all expenses paid Vacation to Hawaii this off season.

Didn't he also already throw a no hitter before?

That's something you'll cherish for your entire life.

ya April 2007

Congrats to Buehrle. Perfect games are really exciting.

When my father used to take me to baseball games, as soon as the opponent would get a hit, he would turn to me and say "Well, there goes the no-hitter."

The guy so far has...

A World Series Ring, A No Hitter and now A Perfect Game!

Some players don't even get one of those in there entire careers.

I guess his last no hitsr he bought all His teamates or at leastthe ones that played watches and I bet they weren't cheap.

Holy crap I listened to part of this game on the radio, up until Kazmir gave up the Granny. Way to go "Chin Strap" no-no #2. There has to have been more perfect games thrown in the last 20 years than any other period of time in baseball.

Well, this is the 6th one in the last 20 years, so that would be 2nd behind 7 during the 80's-90's 20 year period. This decade only has 2. The 90's (4), 80's (3), and 60's (3) all have more.

The catch by Wise was one of the best "plays" I've ever seen. Sure there are catches at the wall all the time...but that was straight robbery at a time when a pitcher was going for a historic achievement. It was one of those plays where you just can't help but jump out of your chair and say "wow!"

On that note, Hawk Harrelson still somehow found a way to make my ears bleed in the ninth inning.

For his next trick, he will throw a perfect perfect game, where he strikes out 27 batters in a row.

Then after that he'll throw a perfect perfect perfect game, where he strikes out 27 batters on 81 pitches [3 pitches per batter].

good for buehrle. he just goes out and pitches and doesn't waste time. one of the most underrated players in the league because he isn't as flashy as others.

So...Buehrle is 30 years old with 132 wins under his belt. He's averaged 15 wins a year in his first 9 seasons.

He has 168 to go to get to 300.

Obviously, the 300 mark is extremely tough to reach, especially in this day and age. It takes some luck and extreme consistency to reach. But Buehrle has never really been mentioned in the same class as some of the others when it comes to the 300 win conversation (or at least I haven't heard his name).

EDIT...I don't think he'll reach it, I don't know if anyone ever will. But I think he's been under the radar in his career. The highest he's ever finished for the Cy Young is 5th. If he stays healthy he have quite a few career wins when it's all said and done.

This perfect game was a whole lot more impressive than the last no-hitter, considering the lineups they faced.

I was holding my cell phone in my hand when he made that catch and, in my elation, managed to throw it to my right somehow.

We'll probably never know as he's said that he's leaning towards walking away from the game after 2011 when his contract is up.
