  1. So, one error today, and he's a bum? I never said he is a bum, I said that today I'd trade him for a box of new balls. Awful at bats and LOB as usual. That was actually meant for GeeMoney and h2r09. One bad play, and he's the worst player on the planet. My bad, the thing is that you didn't "quote" Personally I don't believe he's the worst player on the planet, it's just that one day he makes a great catch or add one to his RBIs but (And lets be honest) most days he's like an empty uniform, and all that happens when we need his power the most. Not that I think he doesn't want to do it right, but he's just not. It might be apathy, or I don't know what, but maybe (And I'm not the only one who believes this) he needs a week or two on the bench.
  2. The annotator Of course you mean the official scorer. The guy Tommy likes to run down the hall to argue with, often successfully. Please forgive the eng/span mix-up (Aka "spanglish" = typical Miami crap ) Annotator... Jesus! Yup! The same old guy. I appreciate he didn't give him the error, but that play was awful.
  3. Hermida won't be around next year, so you don't have to worry about it much longer. He might turn into a good baseball player with another team, but I think its just not going to happen here. I agree. But what really pisses me off is that I like the guy, young, excellent biotype, tremendous power. Then I guess in the future, playing for who knows who he may beat the crap out of our pitchers and we'll have to remember all his bs and live with it. One way or another he doesn't seem to correct his selection of pitches, he strikes out with balls that you'll need two bats to hit them, and he does it a lot. Oh freaking well!
  4. What error? The Marlins had no errors today according to the box score.... The annotator did not charge him with it, but that was an error here, in Japan, or anywhere else.
  5. So, one error today, and he's a bum? I never said he is a bum, I said that today I'd trade him for a box of new balls. Awful at bats and LOB as usual.
  6. What did Jeremy Hermida do today? A costy error, a solo hit, score a run, get struck out, and keep collecting salary and retirement.
  7. Just want to reiterate my relative disdain for Jeremy Hermida. That is all. I swear after today I'd trade him for a box of new balls. :mad
  8. Just got home from work to see the Fish won. Unfortunately, with my new job, I'll be missing a lot of games during the weekdays Same here. Oh, well! Bills keep coming. :confused
  9. We can gain a lot in the series ahead, just look at the calendar. GO FISH!
  10. This is not new but... From www.principalitybaseball.com 30th July 2009 - Those Damn Marlins Posted by Site Administrator at 05:49 PM on July 30, 2009 Frequently I blog here about the poor hitting and inconsistency that has plagued the Braves all season long. However, recent weeks have been better than usual. Lowe, Jurrjens and Vazquez have all now got winning records, Chipper, McCann and Escobar have all reached double figures for home runs and we are in the thick of the Wild Card race. Despite playing as well as we have though, the one thing the Braves just cannot seem to do is beat the Florida Marlins! Perhaps its the humidity, perhaps its the general grottiness of Miami, but something just puts a block onto the W column when the Braves head South. I don't deny that the Marlins have some good players. Dan Uggla is underrated, Hanley Ramirez is an All-Star and the pitching over the years has produced some of the finest staff in the game today, such as Josh Beckett, AJ Burnett and Dontrelle Willis. They even have two World Series championships in the last 12 years (double the Braves' tally in that time), yet I, and most of the Braves fans, feel that this is a team we should be beating. They are not one of the MLB powerhouse teams. Despite plans for a new stadium and a rebranding as the "Miami" Marlins, attendances are amongst the lowest in the league and the converted football stadium they call a home has all the atmosphere of a funeral. If there were to be another franchise relocation, the Marlins would be one of the top names mentioned for the cull. But of course, this is why they play the game. There is no God-given right to beat a team. Victories must be earned, which of course makes them sweeter when they come. The concern though is two-fold. First, we are losing games whilst chasing the Wild Card. This is not good. Second, we are losing ground to a rival team, which despite its financial problems pose a legitimate threat to the Braves' Wild Card aspirations. This is worse. If you needed a third reason, we have to play them 19 times a year, which is unpleasant! I have continued to mention the Wild Card as the Braves' best hope of making the play-offs. It is fair to say now that with about 60 games to go we are not going to catch the Phillies and make up the 8-game gap. They are getting better all the time too and have just strengthened their rotation with the AL Cy Young Award winner, Cliff Lee. Part of me wishes we hadn't swept them at the back end of last month. It was the kick-up-the-backside they needed to get going and have been untouchable ever since. It is hard to stomach going 10-3 since the All-Star break (pre-Miami trip!) and still losing ground. I guess some things just weren't meant to be. Going forward, I still like our chances of making the play-offs. The core of the team is solid, the defense is improving and the starting pitching is magnificent. Hope survives! --------------------------------------------------------- Oh, boy! Well, we play them on 8/31, 9/1, 9/2, 9/3, 9/28, 9/29, and 9/30, so we have 7 more chances of making our optimistic friends' life miserable. I don't know you, but I'm seriously hoping our boys become something beyond "unpleasant", something like nasty, mean, evil, sadistic, painful, a real blood-thirsty bunch of basterds. Can't they? Honk if you find the Braves "unpleasant".
  11. my god the rockies were down 4-1 in the 14th and ryan spilborghs just hit an opposite field walk off grand slam. i was watching this game cuz i knew the huge difference between 4.5 out and 5.5 out. well sad to say but we are now 5.5 out and saying the rockies are riding high would be an understatement. a couple more bad days and the card may be out of reach as well. The "HUGE" difference? becuase anything more than 5 games at this point really feels like alot. If it makes you feel any better, we're 5 games back in the loss column. Which, at this point of the year, that's the main thing to look at, imo. Losses are the games that can't be made up. So think of it that way. At any rate, the difference between 4 & 5 is the same as the difference between 1 & 2. It might seem better b/c we're closer in the latter scenario, but at the end of the day, it's the same difference. 1 game. Nothing "huge" about it. The Marlins just have to go on a mini winning streak to get back in this...and looking at the schedule, this is a good week to get that done. While we're playing the Mets & Padres, the Rockies are playing the Dodgers, and San Francisco (this time at San Francisco). We can gain 2-3 games this week. The team just has to remain optimistic, and play ball the way they are capable of. Amen to that GO FISH!
  12. I honestly believe that we're not done yet, but we need an awesome winning streak, I know it's tough, specially looking at the last games, but not impossible. One thing is for sure, if we keep losing games like we've been doing then the WC as well as the division are pretty much out of reach. Lets not forget that it also depends on what the teams above us can or can't do, they can play with their numbers, for us it's a matter of do or die. GO FISH!
  13. I guess nobody will vote "other"
  14. Why did they put Paulino as No.4 hitter? I don't understand it. Honest to God, putting Hermida against the lefty I understood less. do we have much of a choice? who else would we put in there? Paulino as 4th i coul understand, he's been hitting the lefties pretty well, but imo Hermida is been sucking right and left. Who would i put there? maybe Carroll, I don't know, but JH has left too many at bases lately, him I wouldn't. its hard to put carroll in rf when hes not in the same state as the rest of the team He has played it before my friend.

  17. Lot of negative comments on the game thread. All and all I'm very pleased with the Marlins this year, no matter what the outcome might be. Marlins has been a lauch pad for a lot of stars in past years, and it's nothing but encouraging to see what's been done with these kids, and still can do. We still can win this thing, weather we can or not remains to be seen. The hope is there.
  18. Well, lets be honest, f*cking Wendy thrown a hell of a game.
  19. Guys just leave him alone, he needs to chill. I second that.
  20. This game is disgusting, like yesterday, and like yesterday we have nothing to gain and a lot to loose. Sucks!
  21. Umm no. The FLORIDA MARLINS LOST THIS GAME. How many men they leave on base? 15? That's horrific. And we've done it for the second time in 3 effin games. 16
  22. I'll go with Bake, as I voted.
  23. This game could have been won. Easily. Whatever, hopefully we can win the series tomorrow and beat Wendy (ha). The only problem is that tomorrow we are 5.5 below on the division and 3 on the wildcard race.
  24. Does anybody think it was a bad idea to let Hermida face the lefty having Helms and Paulino on the bench with bases loaded and 2 outs?
  25. Bourn/Lee crushed us today. I have not seen such a bad luck in quite a long time.
