No.2 Spot

Featured Replies

I'm asking about No.2 hitter.

It looks like a big hole as our weakest point.

What do you think about it?

Baker. It worked well last year, and now he has raised his batting average again, he would be the best candidate for the 2 spot if NJ is out.

I go Hanley leadoff, Coghlan second, Uggla third, Cantu, fourth. Hanley has a high on base percentage, is the best baserunner, and merits the most at bats, which is what the leadoff guy gets. Coghlan is showing patience and hits lefthanded. He also runs very well. Uggla hits third because he needs to see fastballs. With Hanley and/or Coghlan on base and Cantu on deck, he would see fastballs. I would probably hit Johnson in the five hole, followed by Ross, Baker and the other outfielder. I would never bring Pinto out of the bullpen.

He's also the best hitter on the team and one of the best in all of baseball with RISP, and that'd be ridiculously wasted if the back of the lineup was hitting ahead of him.

Johnny Bake.

Hermida has done pretty well in the 8 spot so far so no need to move him and Baker had very good success hitting there last season and the beginning of this season so he seems like the best option.

But If N.J. isn't back by September I expect Maybin Leading off followed by Coghlan and Hanley. Move Baker back to the 5th or 6th Spot.

Anyways is there an update on N.J.'s injury, I have been busy lately and haven't been able to watch much of the games.

This team has been absolutely pathetic over the last few years in regards to DL usage. Every single time a position player gets hurt, we play a man down for ten days and then try and bring the injured guys back too quickly.

I'm not sure why they ever took Johnny Bake out of the two spot. Oh yeah, now I remember - just had to keep Bonifacio in the line up.
