I agree the attendance at the game was good made it more exciting with the fewer met fans. nolasco got lucky IMO, someone else had to come in and save him before he got the L. Ross, Coghlan, and other guys got him out of his mess yet again but he wasn't terrible for a few innings. Nunez was somewhat of a surprise to let it go but hes young still needs more time before he can be a closer. Blown save sucked but I'll drink to a +500 season still tonight. Anyone going tomorow? He gave up 4 hits and 3 runs in 7 innings. I'll take that every single day. How was he bailed out? Was it because it took the Fish 5 innings to finally have some average offense off a sh*tty pitcher (and pitching staff)? Good point the offense did take a while to respond, it's happened with nolasco a few times though being inconsistent and all.

Nunes isn't ready. He does best in perfect conditins and closers need to be good on and off pressure. I thought Fredi might baill him out today but it was meant to be a simple outing.

The rockies will have to do real bad, doubt they'll do that bad or bad enough to drop more behind to clinch the wild card. Right now the magic number is 7, that's a lot but the fish and braves have some big series coming up. I saw a report that said the fish weren't worried about getting past the rockies, they want the division from the phils but I think that's even more difficult even thogh they had a series win this week. The fish got lucky this week imo.

I doubt the FO would want to give Dtrain a major league contract based on his work with the Tigers. They send there own players down easily to shape em up so a major league contract doesn't seem realistic. Probably a minor league but other clubs might look for Dtrain and are willing to pay more than the fish.

big deal...this guy needs ALOT of work and IMO will not pan out for us. but we will invest all of the time and money in him and eventually trade him. we should have dealt him this year to get some help to make a run for the playoffs...but no need in crying over spilled milk now. we are what we are....i really want to see both Pinto and Hermida gone next year. we should have kept willingham.... This guy should've been gone a long time ago. He didn't produce what the FO expected of him this or last season why hold on any more. Pinto hasn't been right and the bullpen does as badly or halfassd with him, another one that needs to be let go. FO can get a good young arm and some for these two.

West was more consistant than usual, it wasn't painful to watch today in the dead heat and everything. I'm satisfied with at least 5 inn from West and he definitely did his part. I'm not sure Pinto was really needed today but Gonzalez throws him in all the time. I didn't care much for the mermaids calendar but the hot dolphin's cheerleaders at bud beach were a good sunday game package :notworthy

Nolasco didn't post a good game tonight we somehow got more than 5 innings from him rain delay or not. he's just inconsistent and that's his usual nowadays. Ayala had no business there at least not once the game was tied up and replacing him with wood wasn't a good call but the bullpen is wearing thin (according to front office?). Calero may be could've taken care of it with Nunez but the game just didn't have the right start from the SP.

This is part of the reason why the closer's role is so overrated. I bet you Leo Nunez wasn't even considered for the 8th inning tonight. And as fans, we've come to expect that b/c closers are supposed to get "saves." But at the end of the day, what's the "save?" If you're the closer..."the man"...why can't you be counted on to go more than 1 inning. The save situation, at the time, is the 8th inning. It's a game at 4-4. The bullpen is taxed...the fresh arm tonight is the closer. He's on 2 days rest, his 2 saves against the Mets were easy saves (26 pitches combined), and before that, he hadn't pitched in 4 days. So why can't the "closer" go more than 1 inning tonight? Not as if Leo sucks when he goes more than 1. Leo has been forced to pitch 2 innings twice in games this year, and both times he came out scoreless. So why not the "closer?" B/c it's not a "save situation?" Most overrated "role" in sports. It amazes me that there are teams like the Mets who would spend over $12 million for a "closer", when they could easily spend 1 or 2 million for a guy who could put up similar stats and just use him for the ninth inning. agreed

As much as it pains me to say this, if the Marlins don't pick up a vetern pitcher before Volstads former spot comes up again, I think we may see Miller in that start. I could see them using miller for a start as well. He could probably go only a few innings hopefully consistent but that's a longshot
