September 13, 200916 yr http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/118532-tigers-ready-to-dump-dontrelle?eref=fromSI his best years were with us and he might get fixed with us plus he is a fan favorite here.He was the reason the marlins when to games in 03
September 13, 200916 yr If the Tigers dump his contract, the only way I see the Marlins bringing him back is on a minor league contract. No team is going to give Dontrelle a major league contract at this point.
September 13, 200916 yr I'm sorry, but Willis is not the same man he was before we traded him (well actually, the season before we traded him). He's talented and all, but I think the time may come for him to give up being a pitcher and try to convert to a position player instead, a la Rick Ankiel.
September 13, 200916 yr i'd be all for the minimum to see if he can turn it around in the offseason and then spring training. then if he still has "anxiety disorder" we can release him without losing any money. although if i was dontrelle and i got released i'd go to the cardinals without a second thought just for the opportunity to work with dave duncan.
September 13, 200916 yr Castillo fan Cabreras number in 03 wasn't 24 it was 20 I'm aware, but they didn't have it.
September 13, 200916 yr I doubt the FO would want to give Dtrain a major league contract based on his work with the Tigers. They send there own players down easily to shape em up so a major league contract doesn't seem realistic. Probably a minor league but other clubs might look for Dtrain and are willing to pay more than the fish.
September 13, 200916 yr I'm not sure if Willis is still married with a home in Aventura but if his familial situation is the same he might entertain a minor league contract, be assigned to the Jupiter roster and work with Wiley to regain his lost pitching style. Very pie in the sky stuff but Florida could be a haven for him, truly a second chance. Kind of stuff from movie scripts, "The Rookie, part 2" wouldn't count on it.
September 13, 200916 yr 2 of his last 3 years of struggles...he's still been pretty dominant against lefties. Everyone wanting Arthur Rhodes/some sort of LOOGY...Dontrelle could be that guy (assuming he finds the strike zone, again).
September 13, 200916 yr I think this is a place where he can get it back together. But this is pure speculation anyhow.
September 13, 200916 yr I think this is a place where he can get it back together. But this is pure speculation anyhow. He also sucked his last year here in '07, so I'm not sure a change of scenery is what he needs. Notice how he started sucking when he got married, though. That evil Succubus stole his soul.
September 14, 200916 yr Everyone was saying we shouldn't sign Pedro, he is to old, can't do it anymore, now we are ready to bring back Willis, who last two years were no good. btw Pedro is 4-0.

September 14, 200916 yr All for a minor league deal, where he works on some stuff and provides some depth. As much as I would like a veteran in the rotation, I would like one who is able to provide some consistent wins.
September 15, 200916 yr Everyone was saying we shouldn't sign Pedro, he is to old, can't do it anymore, now we are ready to bring back Willis, who last two years were no good. btw Pedro is 4-0. And running about 5 1/3 IP per start. I was for signing Pedro, but lets not pretend that our pitching situation and Philly's is the same. The other 4 primary rotation guys for the Phils are all giving more than 6 IP a start where in our case only JJ is reliable for 6 IP. While we're on the subject, I am going to go rant in the Freddi thread about how quick his hook is!
