  1. Hasn't been reported yet.
  2. where'd you see that? I saw the opposite.
  3. No. I think it would be more like if the Orioles had given up 7 runs in all of the innings except the second inning. And they have 363 runs have been given up in the second inning specifically. You see there is something odd that is happening in the second inning. that is extremely different especially in the sample size you are describing. All he is doing is showing how drastically worse the team was at getting those last three outs. Suggesting that there was a problem with the team at that moment that was strange. Yes they are both outliers, but one more interesting of a trend. if a team had one inning that they didn't give up any runs in, that would be equally as cool, but i'm not sure it would be as meaningful or interesting, as one innning where most of the runs are given up in. Stats can lie, but to say that describing the small sample as "overly positive" is to misunderstand the nature of the statement.
  4. A 22 year old who can't hit the strike zone. Bust in the sense that he was thought of as a can't miss prospect coming into the year. I'm not sure he is there right now. He might still find a place in the bullpen? but as a starter so far he has given no indication that he could be that.
  5. Is Alvarez a top prospect or a bust that we'd have to retool? I'm getting mixed reports from the internet? Any trade with the Dodgers should include Gonsolin (he might be the most underated player in baseball)
  6. I'm jealous. Beeks was awesome in triple a
  7. For me the complex stats (wRC+, and even iso to some degree) are just easy to type. You can explain how one gets to those weighted values via the base stats. It just takes more words. I get the dislike for things like WAR and wRC+ they seem to dilute the game to numbers. but if you look at the wrong base stat you can be lied to. and that is worse than turning the game into a series of numbers.
  8. He has 9 ks to 2 BBs with online 15 hits 13 of which were single base hits. so he has an OBP of .310 with 2 extra bases. Meaning his slugging percentage was .308. Considering he hit .278 you can see how poor that is as a hitter. Not enough obp to justify his lack of power. Not enough power to justify his lack of on base. When you compare this to his first 200 PA he had 64 hits 20 of them were extra bases 9 of those extra bases were triples or home runs. Plus he walked almost as often as he struck out 18BB : 23Ks. In short the league has adjusted to him, and it is unclear if he will be able to adjust back. It is important to his development to play in a league where he needs to adjust. The next month and a half will decide if he will be a part of our future or just a 4A guy. That basic enough statistics?
  9. In July he has a wRC+ under 70. 60 PA
  10. Nevermind. He hasn't had a hit in a month.
  11. isn't Austin Dean going to be Rule 5 elgible come the winter. So we kind of have to decide what we think of him?
  12. lol, I've been on and off on here for like 8 years.
  13. I know, but this is the forum. I always prefer to be over negative here. There is talk among dodgers fans that they get one of our three relievers.
  14. but dean has been better. and I'm curious if he can hit in the majors. It's a foregone conclusion sierra is not ready.
  15. Home run problem. Meyer has earned his spot in the majors see triple a numbers and limited use in the majors. The other two are rule 5 picks so have to be in the majors.
  16. but twitter is silent. There are no rumors, no discussions. I'm not hearing anything. We aren't gonna make any moves.
  17. so.....are we gonna make any moves?
  18. We, like the organization, have taken steps forward to become a better fan base. All of the people who were not interested in objectively looking at things stopped watching baseball the moment Stanton became a Yankee. Gone are the days where a prospect is only good if he is high on a list, or bad if he is not on said list.
  19. I think it's a strange dynamic. The Rays even when they are bad, are thought to be much better when looking at peripherals. This is most illustrated when looking at things like third order winning percentage. For this reason guys aren't interested in "Win Now" Or "Trade me" it's more a situation where a guy like Archer has come to understand the way the Rays do business. And he would just prefer to have a more aggressive approach, than the subtle saving face model the Rays do now. The Rays are for me the perfect small market organization. They continue to have low payroll, and generally have a relatively good relationship with the players, this can best be seen by how many end up with long term contracts. With those good relationships they also get some free agents, and are able to continually put together winning teams. I think he (Archer) just wants the organization to go the extra step and give up a year of "competitive" play and takes some risks on guys a bit further from the majors so that they could compete with the piles of money being thrown at them by the Yankees and the Red Sox. I think this is a strong statement to his trust of the management.
  20. to be fair there is talk of his defensive position not being in stone. Either way the Barraclaugh contest continues.
  21. I just want Robles and Keiboom, then I'll let them have realmuto.
  22. EXACTLY problem is you can't throw one pitch and be successful. He needs a second pitch, any second pitch, that he can throw for strikes. He can dominate lower level talent because they can't hit his changeup, and the triple A guys aren't as good at hitting a mistake pitch. He has potential, but I might send him down again to work on his slider and getting used to pitching backwards.
  23. Not really he was still walking a lot of guys. He pitched fine? I guess? He won't survive/be successful if he continues to walk guys. He needs to be able to throw his curve/slider for strikes. The adjustment to throw his changeup more is fine, but people still wait on his fastball. He needs to pitch backwards and throw the slider/fastball off his changeup.
