Homerun feature in action!
That thing is horrid. On top of the fact that it is ridiculously stupid, they have a marlin doing flips on top. Since when do marlins do flips? Ugly uniforms, ugly HR feature and stupid little mascot. It's very vexing, the whole situation. Why does Loria insist on these stupid gimmicks? I guarantee Pujols took one good look at that HR feature, coupled with the uniforms, and ran to the Angels. Furthermore, why doesn't anyone mention that the outfield wall is freaking neon-green?! Hello Debbie Downer.......someone must have stolen your lunch money today.

3/28 - Marlins @ Astros - 1:05 PM
Marlins lost 6-3 and Zambrano didn't look so great. I haven't checked to see, but I wonder if Volstad is doing better ?

Homerun feature in action!
Reading some of the comments to that article is a bit frustrating. Some ex-fans from Broward and Palm Beach chiming in on how terrible that part of town is and not wanting to park in someones yard and being fearful of their car being broken into. So they say they will never go tot hat part of town. and those were the same people going to Hurricanes games and before that Dolphins games. They are just jealous that the stadium (they didn't attend anyways) is now empty and they have to go farther for the games. Too effing bad, its been as far or longer for people in South Dade to go to Marlins games and now they have their chance, The Broward people had it for 19 years and we see how they didn't even go to the games. Now its someone else's chance.

Homerun feature in action!
I want a mini collectible one, I hope that's a promotion one day. I agree Admin, would be great. I couldn't take it anymore, those people on that site are all bigots, haters and just jealous Cubs fans. Who gives a sh*t what they think anyways. Its our stadium and they don't have to see it if they don't want to.

New Stadium Pics
Keep your shirt on, the name will not be Marlins Park. It's strictly temporary until they get their naming deal worked out. How many times do I have to say that the Marlins, who managed to get the naming rights allocated strictly and unilaterally unto themselves are not going to walk away from 50 to 100 million over 10 years? Right now, with the park 99%+ complete, they're concentrating on the final details. Which is not to say that they aren't paying any attention to the naming deal, that's obviously an ongoing subject of negotiations. I hope the splash they've made is worth 8-10 million/year. We'll see, and soon. Only problem so far is the fact that despite having the new stadium, the national media looks like it will be ignoring us once again (for the most part). After the opening night, the early ESPN schedule still doesn't have the Marlins on a Sunday night game - home or away. And FOX Saturday is even worse, with no Marlins at all. I get that the national media doesn't want to show us at home, I GET THAT, they hated seeing the empty seats as much we did. But why do they ignore us as the road team ? It has to go back to the notion and feeling that they (the media) still have never forgiven the Marlins for 2003, and preventing the Cubs from being in a World Series. Because I can't think of another thing that would have caused us to have this seeming prejudice against the Marlins. Now how does this tie in with the delay in naming ? Well maybe the delay is the Marlins have hit a snag on getting someone to commit since it looks like the Marlins will not be getting as much TV exposure as they had hoped. So companies are looking at the Marlins demands and not wanting to pay as much as the Marlins are asking because they feel they won't be getting their money's worth. Isn't this plausible ?

POLL : Is Opening Day 1993 or Opening Night 2012 bigger for you ?
I'm torn. I was there on that hot but gorgeous day in 1993 when the Marlins beat the Dodgers (forget the score - was it 5-3 ?) and they took down one of the best pitchers in all of baseball at the time, in Orel Hersheiser. This, however, is something I've been waiting for since that day, because I knew and so did many others that Sun Life could only be a temporary home for baseball. Then it lasted 19 long seasons. I think I will have to go with 2012, because this is the REAL beginning of baseball here in Miami. Finally there will be no "comme si, comme sa" in regards to the Marlins future. Its here and to stay.

I noticed that ESPN has exclusive rights to the Opening night but...
Yankees games will be on FSFlorida there. Opening Night will not be blacked out there, it'll be on ESPN. Thanks Admin, I was a bit worried when I saw that only ESPN was carrying it. On opening day in 1993, ESPN carried the game but blacked it out here, and it was shown on Channel 33 locally. I had a cousin in Georgia VHS the game for me so I could see the ESPN version of the game. I also like how the Sunday night crew is doing the game. That means its full circle for Orel Hersheiser. He pitched the opening day for the Dodgers and now is here for the 1st game for the Miami Marlins. I'm sure he will impart some of his memories of that game during the broadcast.

Opening Night Tickets Not Mailed with Season Tix?
still no email here either. Who is the sender of this email?? I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I never received an email and must have been on the 1st list of people they went out too. I've had mine for nearly a week now.

I noticed that ESPN has exclusive rights to the Opening night but...
...does this mean there will be no blackout in Miami, or will it be radio only for us in South Fla ? And on the Yankee games next weekend are there blackouts or will we be seeing them in Miami ? Does anyone know ? I set my DVR and will be at the opening game, but would be really pissed if I can't DVR this for my own history. Would love to put this one on DVD and keep it forever.

Opening Night Tickets Not Mailed with Season Tix?
I heard that BroncoBob's tickets will come in a golden envelope. Yep. With an inscription in silver that says, "In remembrance of small birds with tiny minds." So when ya gonna stop by and pick up some free tickets from me? Make the trip. It'll be worth it. Quite frankly, when I'm making the time/money commitment to travel to Florida, I'd rather pay money to sit in nice seats (Clubhouse Box or Base Reserved) than sit in crappy seats for free. To be fair, from my first look at the ballpark, there isn't a crappy seat in the joint. I would have to agree.

Ryan Madson out for the season
Wow huge deal.....I was picking Cincy for that division. May have to go for St Louis now. Should help in our quest for a WC.

The Franchise?
For some reason i had the impression that this show was like NFL Hard Knocks on HBO -- they pretty much shoot and produce within a week, every week, so when it's aired the stories are pretty much in real time -- maybe a week behind. and, it's also done training camp -- not the actual season. I guess Showtime takes their time with this show. I can't wait to see it. They only have one episode a month, and it doesn't start until July so there is only like 4 episodes. Maybe 5 tops.

Reminder : 30 Clubs in 30 Days - 8 PM
What was their prediction for us for the year? I believe they put up the latest Baseball Prospectus numbers that have us winning 88. I can't remember if they had us winning the division or as a WC but they have us in the post-season for sure. The MLB Network guys seemed to agree with them. But said Johnson and the rest of the guys health is über important.

Also, you know, spring training is completely meaningless. True, but I'd still like to see us scoring a few more runs by this time. But its still good, I'm getting psyched.

Reminder : 30 Clubs in 30 Days - 8 PM
Overall it was a very positive piece. The guys as MLB Network think if we can stay away from the injury bug we'll have a darn good year. I still am waiting for the offense to kick in, but maybe the guys are holding back just a little bit for the regular season. We've also been missing Stanton and now LoMo for most of the last week or so. Missing your number 4 and 5 hitters generally will make your offense suffer. Luckily our situation should be temporary, unlike Philly with Howard and Utley... I know if we can get our boys back and maybe win a lot of games early, while Philly is down, we can really put the pressure on them later in the year. Their pitching is still a monster to overcome.

Opening Night Tickets Not Mailed with Season Tix?
Ha, you think they could put them in a book or something, rubberbanded together sounds like something the single A clubs would do. Well they did come in a nice black folder with the Marlins logo on it.

Opening Night Tickets Not Mailed with Season Tix?
I received my 10-game package by Fed Ex last week. I got all 10 games, including the opening night tickets all bunched together and rubber banded together.
