  1. i'm shocked that it's still no score. i would have thought one of the pitchers, being as mediocre as they are would cough one up by now. Marlins have always made average pitchers look good.
  2. Nolasco needs to be traded, f*** this team.
  3. I still f***ing hate this team.
  4. 0-5 with RISP, unbelievable.
  5. Holy sh*t i just remembered Infante is gone.
  6. Already reading ESPN headlines with the words "Firesale" next to our name. *sigh* Let the ignorance begin. Seriously the whole effing fire-sale talk pisses me off.
  7. And a pain in the Marlins side for years to come?
  8. Getting rid of JJ is unbelievably dumb at this point, I would go off.
  9. Hard to judge the trade right away without knowing what the Marlins will do with the money. If they can land a top flight FA, it will ease the sting a little. It's not like the team can play any worse without Hanley the rest of the season, and we were not going to win anything this year even with Hanley, so I'm not too butthurt about the trade other than its a strong indication of how desperate and cheap this team is in comparison to the rest of the league. How so?
  10. They keep saying on Marlins live all the players seem like they have breathed a sigh of relieve now that Hanley has been traded. Hanley may have blown on the field but I didn't hear anything about him being a problem in the club house this year. He was never not a problem.
  11. Hanley was almost an Athletic Lost in all the other madness of one of baseball's craziest overnights ever, did you notice that the low-budget, low-expectations A's moved percentage points ahead of the Angels and into second place in the American League West? And that they still had a bad night? The problem was that other Los Angeles team, the Dodgers, and their stunning late-night deal forHanley Ramirez. The A's, as it turns out, were also in heavy on Hanley. And, according to sources, the Marlins offered Oakland a sweet deal within the last few days, one in which the A's would get Ramirez for a couple of minor-league players -- and the Marlins would pay about half the remaining money on Ramirez's contract. The A's held off making the deal, because of concerns about a hand injury that has kept him out of the lineup since Friday. In the meantime, the Dodgers came in and agreed to take Ramirez's entire contract -- all $40 million of it. That's great for the suddenly fire-selling Marlins. It's awful for the suddenly competitive A's. The A's are still looking to add, and they do have backup plans. They've been scouting Stephen Drew, have had interest in Yunel Escobar, and have even kicked around the possibility of trying to bring hometown kid Jimmy Rollinsback to Oakland. But none of those options excite them the way a possible Hanley trade did. Not only that, but another of Tuesday night/Wednesday morning's huge stories could pose a problem for the A's. WithAlex Rodriguez headed to the disabled list with a broken hand, the Yankees suddenly become a contender for any third baseman that shows up on the market. http://www.cbssports...nley-derby,-too Jarrod Parker...
  12. Different persepectives LA- Why? I understand that you need a 3B or possibly SS with Gordon going down but Hanley is a LOOSE CANNON and when he's without his friend Jose Reyes he's going to cry daily. MIA- Why? going back to the Florida Marlins days where we have no money and have to sell Miguel as Detroit slaps us on the ass over and over again. I understand that Hanley isn't very good anymore but that doesn't mean that he can't resort back to old ways at some point. The marlins are a confusing team. They spend alot of money for the first time ever. Now we're selling all the players that we thought were going to get us to the playoffs. Embarrassing GM. Emabarrassing Owner. Embarrassing Franchise. I don't know if any of you heard 790theticket this morning between 7:15 to 7:45. The discussion was what would the fan base think? The discussion was how little we got for Hanley? And then a discussion that Loria has his fingers too much in the pie--makes too many decisions. And then a discussion about players we have cut saying they were washed up, couldn't play, etc., and have gone on to play better than here. Examples: Gonzalez, Castillo, Willingham, Maybin, Ross with the RED SOX now as designated hitter, Lowell was fine with the RED SOX, Alejando--can't remember last name. Then from these examples what are the MARLINS lacking? Why do these examples do fine and awesome outside of South Florida? They mentioned the FO and expecially Loria. They also mentioned Guillen as not being able to handle the team. And one caller mentioned no leadership as a manager as well as no players are. Certainly Hanley wasn't one; he has never grown up. Thoughts?? Who cares what the fan base thinks they (FO) are doing whats best for the team, I cannot sit here and assume that just because the FO doesn't do exactly what I want that they are now horrible people and trying to destroy the franchise, stuff happens, it's part of the game. I agree that Loria should keep his nose out of things (see Bell) but he's the owner he's going to make comments and suggest things, even if it's not his place. Gonzalez was not worth hanging on to, Castillo had his best years in Florida and didn't do much after that, Willingham was hurt, Maybin never panned out, Ross started to decline with the Marlins, and De Aza was hurt, no one thought he was going to bounce back and be this productive. The FO can't see the future they do whats best for the team and you have to really just trust that. I will admit I don't like Guillen at all it was a stupid hire part of the "franchise" if you will.
  13. At first I was like, "this sucks" but then I actually read up on the deal. The Dodgers are paying ALL of Hanley Ramirez' contract, thats the biggest thing in this deal. We also got a young starting pitcher in Eovaldi and while he hasn't shown greatness he is still a young starter. The Dodgers scored 19 runs for him in 10 starts thats less than two runs a game. The Marlins aren't exactly the kings of scoring runs but it adds an immediate starter to the team. I don't even care about the other guy maybe he becomes a good reliever way down the road. I'm optimistic and glad Hanley is gone.
